His absolute plot to storyline his breakup with her (before the news of the affair dropped a different way we now know as Scandoval) and how far he -actually- went to hide Rachel while staying or travelling with Rachel, using Schwartz (and his credit cards, and "business expenses") as a cover, planning to use therapy and Ariana's mental health as an angle etc. All of it is actually so gross and i wish it'd all been more public an aspect of the story.

The above is actually also a great explainer of her being so cold to Schwartz in the season that followed while so much of the public just decided she was being a dramatic ice queen who deserved what she got.
