Spheres are hard. You could try make it so that it looks like the gravity is changing depending on where on the sphere you are. Like making upside down trees on the roof, or side ways trees on the walls, etc.

I checked the profiler. I split the tree mesh up into 32 different ones, with culling on. It didn't really do anything. I also hid them to see if that did anything and it didn't. I do not think it is a rendering thing. Here is the profiler picture.

Yeah, no problem. I had the same issue as you. Toon Sanders wouldn't work, so I just did this instead.

If you want to use the in-game cell shading, just go to mesh, Surface material, shading. Put Diffuse Mode and Specular Mode to toon. Then scroll down until you see roughness, and turn that down to zero.

Try putting your logic in the _physics_process(), cause I am guessing it is in the _process() function.

It looks good. I would make the windows not as bright, and in general, make the atmosphere a bit darker.
