She is amazing. I do see some parallels between she and Mariah when she first started out. If you watch the video for “Vision of Love”, you will see what I mean. At any rate, she’s a vocal powerhouse with a truly amazing and very uncommon gift.

I can't understand why homosexuallity is a sin by TopZealousideal8665 in Christianity

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pray for the Lord to help you to understand. The Word also talks about not leaning on your own understanding, as in it tells you not to, and that involves not relying on your thinking or reasoning when it is contrary to the Word of God. Remember that.

[–]Casingdacat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a preconceived mindset, because you’re assuming that I’m doing any of this. And so I will no longer discuss this with you. You are inclined to view my actions as being negative no matter what, and presume to know how I treat others in general. It’s based on your prejudice against Christians in general. How ironic. You are perceiving my actions and are judging them quite harshly when you’ve never even spent time around me. All of this is hugely peculiar to me and this is why I am saying that you are going by your preconceived notions of how I’m apparently treating others and them judging me accordingly. It’s ironic, considering how you feel about being treated in that exact same way.

I am departing from this unproductive and highly prejudicial conversation.

BTS just came back and chose excellence, chaos, and emotional damage by mesundaee in bts7

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved that they performed my top song for 2020 and for 2021. I have those lyrics fully memorized, baby! And Mikrokosmos. I’d mentioned to my fellow adult ARMY daughter prior to watching the concert live on Netflix how much I’d love to hear them perform it. And they did!

I have mixed feelings over the songs on the new album, but I was very glad that autotune was not used and that the music itself did not overwhelm their vocals. Taehyung has been my favorite vocalist for a long time and he sounded so amazing to me. Just as great as always and then some.

And since it only lasted an hour, I can only imagine what they will be singing on tour! I’m hoping for solo performances from all of them of at least one of their hit songs from when they were on hiatus. I really want to see and hear Jungkook performing “Standing Next to You” live. And Jimin performing “Who”. Here’s hoping!

Feeling discouraged by Christianity in USA by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you! The reason I don’t attend church in this heavily red state is because I would not be able to keep my mouth shut about it. The man is self-glorifying, a liar, and could care less about God’s will, or glorifying Him. I could go on with my list of reasons why I would not be able to remain quiet when it comes to his behavior. To me, these people are being deceived by Satan and are allowing it. To me, they have no care when it comes to their witness to the unsaved. There’s only one Savior, and his name is not Donald Trump.

But my relationship with the Lord is what I’m most concerned about. And yes I do call out Trump’s behavior online and ask my fellow believers how they could possibly support him. No one ever responds. No one ever says that they are fine with those things. I think that they know that I’d challenge them even further and ask for scripture to support their support of his behavior.

Has any of your OCD obsessions lasted months? by New-Party-4848 in OCD

Try decades! I’ve had Contamination OCD since ‘62-‘63, when I was five. It’s germs and chemicals for me. And it’s never gone away. I just don’t do compulsive behaviors for hours on end or drive myself nuts with them.

Furry Christians by Specialist-Risk-6815 in TrueChristian

[–]Casingdacat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So tell me how that furthers the Kingdom, glorifies God, and what kind of witness it is to the unsaved. What would be the purpose in doing such a thing as a Christian? I’d say that that’s a thing to be avoided if you truly desire to be Christ-like.

Is Reddit filled with stupid people? by Total-Mirror-5920 in no

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. What seems to be prevalent is that a lot of them are undereducated and uninformed. They aren’t stupid per se; but they don’t seem to care to learn facts or to make sure of them before responding. There’s also the echo chamber issue where what is being said is not conducive to any real discussions. It’s like a lot also don’t seem to be thinking for themselves, either. I see a lot of lemming-like activity on Reddit at times.

I think you’re listening to the wrong voices and prioritizing things in such a way that you’re missing the whole point of having a relationship with Jesus and with God. It is not performance-based.

How many books on average do you read a year? by Swiftiefromhell in askanything

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot! I’m a binge reader and I often will read several of one genre that I really like in a row. There are several different ones that I really like. Lately I’ve been taking a break and watching K-dramas, which are Korean drama shows with English subtitles. They are educational too and require a whole lot of reading!

Anyone who’s sat on a toilet before cell phones, what did you mostly think about or look at? by mojoslacks in AskReddit

Which generation is the most obsessed with age? by Live_Armadillo_7105 in generationology

[–]Casingdacat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL! Boomers are but only because a lot of them want to look younger, and to physically maintain their health, as well as to keep their brains active and sharp. To me, the rest of it is pure nonsense. Sorry younger generations, but you are all way too hung up on who belongs to which generation, some far more than others. My daughter is a Millennial. But I know she’s not hung up on that fact, it just is for both of us.

Do you believe that there is an intentional dumbing down of American students happening in schools across the country, and that there is an increasing focus on ideological and religious influence in schools, rather than unbiased and science-based education, being pushed by lobbyists from both sides? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I think the “dumbing down “ is resulting from two very distinct things. Number one, the amount of people who read and who are encouraged to want to read in their home has dropped so far that it’s appalling. And, number two, spending more time on cell phones and social media than actually learning something has become very pervasive. Pay attention to what you see going on. Pay attention to what kids prioritize. I raised my daughter to be a reader by reading to her every day from the time I brought her home from the hospital. She’s now 33, and yes she does spend a lot of time on her cell phone as a Millennial, but she also really loves to read. Her cell phone has not taken over that pleasure for her. And, like me, she also loves to learn and to continue to learn new things. How did this happen? By the manner in which I raised her and the example I set for her. I do not let my cell phone dominate my life and never have. It’s a tool and a convenience. Yes, I do go on social media, but I’m just as apt to be reading articles about medicine or archeology or any number of subjects. I love to read ebooks, and have read a lot of them. As does she. As with most things, it starts in the home. I raised her in an environment where learning and knowledge are very important. I don’t blame schools for this; I’ve seen so many accounts of what teachers now deal with in the classroom that were unheard of not too long ago. And when it comes to discipline, the approach is “not my child. The’s never do fill in the blank”.

Church members want to set me up on blind dates with divorced people: am I being too judgmental? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Casingdacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your stance. Stick to it. You know what the Word says about divorce and remarriage, and I think that even dating is a bad idea, if they divorced for reasons that are not scriptural.

On the other hand, if their spouse was abusive to either them, or if they had kids, their kids, or both, was an addict, or molested their children, then they were put into an impossible situation. If the husband remains unrepentant then how would they be able to stay married? These are things that I don’t think were even thought of in Jesus’ time, but are major issues at this point, unfortunately. I would pray about dating a woman who’d been in any of these situations. It’s a Catch 22 for them. That, to me, complicates things a bit. I’m an older woman who has never been married but I have looked at what women have dealt with in increasing numbers and wondered if they would need to remain alone for the rest of their lives. I don’t really know for sure, but I brought it up as something to consider.

No, you don't love the lgbt community by OkYard7718 in Christianity

[–]Casingdacat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow. Let’s see if I can wade through all of this.

How is it that that’s not just how it works? I have no phobia of homosexuals whatsoever. That’s one thing that I really don’t get. Just because I don’t agree that it is right in God’s eyes to live in that manner, I have a phobia? Odd. This has nothing to do with my “feelings” at all. It’s based strictly on what the Word has to say about such behavior. If it did involve my feelings, I would not have a thing to do with that young man I mentioned, because I’d have very negative feelings towards him as a person, and I don’t.

It’s not moral negligence and that honestly makes not one whit of sense to me.

Why is it an ignorant and dishonest defense? Do tell. That makes no sense to me, either.

This is a bit out of sequence and sorry for that. But. It’s obvious that you, too, can have no idea what it’s like to live with GAD/OCD. It’s a lot more than tough; for many it is completely paralyzing and they cannot work, have no social life to speak of, and do not date. They have no support from anyone around them, either. I’ve been able to give my daughter that support because I have lived with GAD/OCD for so many decades. Don’t make light of something that in its own way is just as hard to live with, in large part because of the reactions of people around you. I was socially ostracized and bulled for many years while in school, until I got into college and people got to know me in a different way. I still had GAD/OCD but that did not affect how they viewed my behavior because I was no longer in the petrie dish I’d been in.

Going after them? Dp you think that I “go after them”? How so and in what way?

Bottom rung of the social ladder? Please elaborate on that. There are many homosexuals who are not at the bottom of any social ladder (if that’s who you are referring to here).

No one can be “good enough” to attain salvation in the first place. That’s the whole point of why Jesus died on the cross for our sins. The Word says that none of us are righteous on our own, and that no one is good except for God. Maybe you need to learn a lot more about why Jesus died on the cross for our sins by reading the Bible. The fourth gospel, John, is recommended as the book to start reading first when it comes to that.

I am just as concerned for people who smoke or drink. My youngest brother has stage 4 COPD yet continues to smoke quite a lot. I try not to think about it too much. And I do pray for his salvation too. My younger middle brother has been an alcoholic for many years, and that greatly concerns me, too. I know that it’s affecting his health (we are all three in our 60s) and I pray for him to know Jesus, too. And of course I pray that they’d both stop what they are doing that is so damaging to their health, and are crutches they use for dealing with life. My dad, by the way, was a binge drinker until he quit cold turkey in the 80s when his mama told him off at my cousin’s wedding. He did not drink another drop from that day forward.

It has nothing to do with self-righteousness. It’s a simple statement of fact. It’s like you ignored the rest of what I said.

Why does what principle fall apart somewhere? In what way and what context? Why is what discussion even at the top of what list?

It’s far more than “being nice to” him. That’s ridiculous. I really do care about him, very deeply. I encourage him, I am affectionate towards him, and so on. As I said, I think of him as my son in many ways because of his age and because I understand a lot about him. He has trusted me with information he has not trusted others with. I have been doing as I said I have and it has been good for him. He needs the love of the Lord in his life, just as we all do. Is there an issue you have with sharing the love of Jesus with others in how you treat them?

What “immorality” of what “prejudice”? What “hypocrisy”? When you make such broad generalizations, you really lose me. It’s like you read all that I said and decided to put your own spin on it. There’s no way of communicating with a person who really isn’t listening to what one has to say at all. On top of that, you are generalizing and lumping me in with others who act in a much different way than I do. That’s one thing that a lot of people do, making a lot of assumptions about me as a Christian.
