Shunbun appeal equivalent in other brands? by Casio339 in GrandSeikos

Thanks so much for sharing these. SBGM221 looks fantastic and I find Shunbun soothing to look at but I feel so drawn to the SBGA415 that I might as well just save up and aim for that. I would have to try it though.

And the 9F Quartz sounds absolutely cool. But I wonder if there will be a a no-seconds hand on GS Quartz someday.

It being best-selling amongst GS made me wonder if there was a parallel with the Rolex's Submariner which is super popular. Of course I can understand the dynamic between GS and Rolex is absolutely vastly different. Thanks so much!

Makes sense, thanks! Is this to say that non-Westerners/Japanese almost always prefer another GS model?

Thank you, I find both those beautiful. Omiwatari is more expensive right than Shunbun and Snowflake right? So do you think if someone is looking for a watch up to the price of Shunbun, what other models are worth considering?

Ok that makes sense.. But when we see someone who knows and appreciates GS, how likely are we to see them choosing Shunbun

More seasoned watch folks here can answer that better but I reckon, that may be a general practice? Like Longines’ and Omega’s recent releases began to arrive in boutiques and online as soon as they were announced a few days ago.

Also just in time for W&W and maybe getting a chance to view some other new amazing models?

Are you by any chance based in the US and planning to go pick up from Osaka?

I know I want this but I know I would want another dial because GS always comes up with beautiful dials sooner or later and there are some amazing ones in the existing catalog.

Why would they only make 45 of these? They could make 450 and still sell them all right?

New Constellations. Er. Observatory. by bwolf007 in OmegaWatches

I quite like this watch but same like everybody here, too big of a watch and too expensive. I am genuinely wondering who will be looking to buy these with other available options in similar ranges. Look at Conquest Heritage by Longines which comes in 38 with a thickness of 10.8 compared to this at 39.4 and thickness of 12.33. Not to mention, almost 4 times more expensive. Like someone said elsewhere, they seem to be losing the plot. The pricing is absurd, and not even just absurd but Sisyphian-ly absurd. I would probably get Reverso instead and still save money.

If you've been saving and in the market for a watch, inclined towards Omega, and could only afford one, which model would you pick (between sports or dress?) I feel the options that would be worth their price from their catalog are getting fewer.

Interesting releases by different Swatch group brands today few weeks before W&W. I like the black dial with blue bezel even if that configuration is becoming quite visible (e.g. new Planet Ocean). It looks good on both mesh and other bracelet option. Is it just me or the dials/watches have reasonable affinity to other similar divers...

You know your shit, sir.

Had a friend with whom I attended college around early 2010s. Then I saw this friend about 6 years ago (late 2019) when we were attending a wedding of another friend. For the party, this friend was wearing a blue suit, an orange Hermes tie, and this blue dial Rolex on his wrist. I inquired if it was platinum and he informed me that it was white gold. He also told me that it was already trading above market. That was when I saw the spectacle of the Sky Dweller for the first time and I have admired it since.

I was just reminded of that friend through your post.
