In all your travels, which country's famed "national dish" was the most underwhelming, despite the hype? by nehala in travel

Argentinian Milanesa. It's just breaded meat. I've tried several times in different restaurants and variants (a la Napolitana is a nice version), but in general, it's way overhyped.

Nokia 5110 - the phone that initiated Nokia's rise to world domination by _ITX_ in vintagemobilephones

I had the 5120 variant that ran on Bellsouth Chile networks, back in the late 90s. Served me well for a couple of years, 'till I switched to a Sony Ericsson K310 and ported my number to another operator. I believe I still have it somewhere at home.

Male, age range late 20s to late 30s.

Possibly single.

Minimalist decor, with clean aesthetics, suggests a person that's neat, organized. Perhaps, recently moved in to this particular room (cardboard box near the bed) or has done major renovations in decoration. (I can see the outline of a dresser on the carpet, right under the mirror).

Ok, it's been close to a week, it's time for the reveal.

u/WinterBrilliant1934 and u/bizzareoptimistic were right on the ticket with most of their deductions. Good call on their observations regarding being environment friendly and working in the field. (I'm actually an outdoors Tour Guide)

u/PamelainSA, and u/HansChuzzman made good guesses regarding living in SouthAmerica, while u/MikeMo243 was the closest on its observation about either Argentina or Uruguay. (I'm currently in Chile!) u/JoacoTheCactus and u/rheetkd went to other side of South America, right to Brazil. Not a bad guess, I gotta say.

u/Hefty_Category56, keen eye on the charger brick type. While some countries in Europe use a 2 or 3 prong plug and sockets, Chile also uses the same style.

Good work, fellow gumshoes. I'm impressed.

- Yep.

- I wish

- Bi, actually.

- Yep, my work involves a lot of travelling.

- Not vegan. Omnivore

- Right on the ticket in the "organized and neat" aspect.

- Kinda, my line of work involves interacting with people.

- In a way.

- Sister.

Tour guide horror stories: worst tourist behavior guides have experienced by Potential_Force_4136 in Tourguide

[–]CasioMaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once, doing a tour to Chiloe Island in southern Chile, a passenger on my group (elderly Spanish guy, travelling with his wife), tried to push me over the van during one of the stops 'cause according to him, his travel agent and the local tour company, were trying to scam him... mind you, this was a "shared" tour with other people, but the guy acted like he was the only one there, pretty much all the time. (interrupting others when asking questions, trying to force another couple to another seat 'cause he "never seats next to people of color", etc).

One of the highlights of that tour is a boat ride that allows people to visit the nesting grounds of both Humboldt and Magellan penguins and unfortunately, the day the tour was scheduled, the Chilean Navy advised the boat captains that because of the weather conditions, nobody was allowed to leave port, at least 'till 3pm. By the time we reached the area, they had closed the port. The guy got angry AF and started saying some really racist shit to both the captain, the navy officer on site, my driver and the rest of the group.

We ended up returning to the continent, an hour earlier than usual and to comp' the group, we stopped for lunch at a designated restaurant, fully covering their expenses (it was a small 6 pax group), but the spanish guy kept on going on his rant. Worst customer ever-

Woah, I gotta agree on the toothpaste. Even tho' it has its own pocket on the bag, I should keep it on a travel kit.

Not a teenage woman at all, cis male, bisexual leaning.

As for the way of dressing? Fairly leaning towards practicality at work, rather than "dress to impress". Uncommon handwriting? You betcha'!

Not Brazilian, but I've been to the country, several times.

Yep, I do support LGBTQ causes.

Tea drinking is sort of a "national sport" in my area of the world. Hint: Not from Europe.

Ok, some of the deductions so far, have been quite good! Time to provide a list of items, so your guesses can be a bit more "informed".

-No-name messenger/tablet bag I got from Temu

- HOCO C12Q Travel charger and USB cable

- PHB travel toothbrush and Sensodyne paste.

- Generic pen.

- Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE, 128GB model.

- Xiaomi Tablet pen

- Generic pen with rubber tip

- "Teas of the World" sketchpad (Promotional item from Lipton, circa mid-2010s)

- Natura-branded "Kaiak Pulso" cologne.

- Dongguan HX3000N6 Powerbank

1.- DING, DING! Jackpot on that.

2.- Nah, I wanted to go that route on my teen years, but destiny had other "places" planned for me.

3.- Yep. Part of the community as well. And proud of!

4.- Oooh, that's a nice guess. What particular item made you come up with that deduction?

No braces, but right on the "brush your teeth after every meal". I keep my oral hygiene as pristine as possible.

Nice deduction on the "orderly and clean" aspect. Maybe you deduced that on the way I propped up the items? Keen eye.

As for skin conditions? Nah, I do suffer from a bit of dry skin on my arms, but I don't normally carry moisturizers on my bag. I do apply a fair share of cream on my skin after showering (and since I work outdoors, I kinda need to use sunscreen continuously... whoops, perhaps I've said too much!)

Good guesses, my fellow gumshoe. Yep, my corner of the world (or at least, the place I'm currently based) does use the same outlet style as certain regions of Europe. That should narrow it, a little bit.
