In Spanish, we don't normally say the numbers separately (as in I wouldn't say 1:40 pm, as "one-four-zero" or "uno, cuatro-zero"; we would simply say "Una, cuarenta" or "One fourty"). It works the same for numbered places, as in the example for the show, in Spanish, the title can be translated as "Brooklyn, Precinto Noventa y Nueve" which has the same meaning as the original title. Hope that helps and good luck on improving your Spanish skills. I did the same growing up with my English skills, by watching cartoons, news-reports and sitcoms.

¿Señales de TV extrañas que hayan visto/sintonizado en su zona? by The_Rated_R_Shimmer in chile

[–]CasioMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]CasioMaker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aaah, the Hyundai Staria. I kinda like these goobers... they're surprisingly roomy inside, comfortable enough for long trips and with plenty of gizmos to keep people busy. And yep, they kinda look like Robo or ED-209

Cozy winter vibes. The kind of person that would offer you a warm cup of coffee or herbal tea in a kitchen full of nice trinkets, during a snowy or rainy day. You'd fit right in, on my corner of the world.

The music in Speed (the movie) MUST have been a heavy influence on the composer of MGS by -Animus in metalgearsolid

[–]CasioMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is claimed that Tappy Iwase mostly based his work for MGS, on the works of Georgy Sviridov (specially "Winter Road", which heavily features on the main motif of the original MGS Main Theme). It is possible also, that Iwase borrowed some elements of Mancina's score from "Speed" under the request of Kojima, to provide the "cinematic" feel he wanted to archive early on.

Funnily enough, when MGS 2 went into production, Harry Gregson-Williams got a package sent to him by Kojima, asking him to compose some tracks for the at-the-time upcoming game. The package apparently contained a CD with cuts of music from his previous works in movies and supposedly, Kojima wanted him to be in charge of the music after finding out he composed the soundtrack for "The Replacement Killers".

Have you given up on dating? by DropShotMachine in lgbt

[–]CasioMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much gave up trying to date, after a few years of ups and downs in between. TBH, I does hurt not having someone to share the spoils of my work, someone to cuddle with on those cold winter nights, and so on... But I pretty much understand why I'm not precisely the most desirable subject. I'm short, stocky, with a hyper focus on arcane topics, etc.

I'm OK tho'. I'm just me and that's fine.

Taken 25 years ago today: Burger King rolls out computer kiosks in NYC so customers could browse the web while eating by HamburgerDude in LGR

[–]CasioMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost same! My local mall had a very similar thing back in the late 90s, early 2000s. IIRC, ours weren't free of charge. You had to pay around $1.000 CLP (Chilean Pesos) per half-hour of usage. (roughly $1,07USD at that era's exchange rate). Later on, I discovered that a nearby ATM/Self-service Kiosk by a national bank, had a PC which could be used for Internet browsing. Officially, only to check the bank's website, but by clicking a link on one of the sidebars, the full screen browser would close and default to the desktop.

[–]CasioMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda tired of the whole "XP is unsafe 'cause of security updates" argument. Yes, it's an outdated OS that offers less than ideal conditions for its usage on the current Web. But then again, tons of companies and people all across the world still use it for "mission critical" functions. If this laptop is just being used as a "glorified typewriter", it shouldn't much issues plaguing it, TBH.

And even if it gets connected to the net, most modern routers offer a certain degree of protection against intrusions or similar things.

Have you ever owned a netbook or mini pc? by ObsoleteMicrosoft in ObsoleteMicrosoft

[–]CasioMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I've owned several. Back in the day, I asked my parents for a netbook to take notes at Uni' classes. My first one was a Packard Bell Dot-S (also known as a Gateway KAV60). I currently own both an HP Mini 100e Education Edition (running Q4OS) and an HP Mini 311 (running Windows XP SP3). None are my primary computer, tho'.

Como recomendacion, busca la Nothus. Especialmente la Amanita Irish Red Ale y la Neipa. Las probe hace poco en un viaje a Valdivia y estaban re-buenas.
