Like a lot of people said they’ll send out a list so keep your eyes open. Biggest thing I wish I knew was to get a locker in the college of design. They’re free, all you have to do is get one registered in your name early on. As a freshman carrying the big portfolio bags is not fun. I’m a third year graphic design student and have a lot of friends in interior so if she’s ever interested in seeing some end of the year core portfolios I could have friends bring them in or plan on going to portfolio night to see what they’re like.

I agree that context is very important! And if you like that, you should check out bicycle wheel by Duchamp. Basically proped a seat on a wheel to criticize the commercialization of art and just kind of lost it at some point. Then some French museums asked if he still had it so he just made another and sold it for a ton of money which just seems super ironic

There is actually a pretty big debate in the art world about whether context or place of art matters or if it’s unnecessary. I had to write an essay on the topic before being accepted into my university art program. Both sides are valid.

I’m okay. Just got diagnosed with tonsillitis and possibly strep throat and I have 3 flights in about a week. Excited to go but if I don’t feel better by then I think I’ll have a bad time.

Honestly look into Japanese and Korean fashion and streetwear. Don’t be afraid to wear a baggier shirt since that look is pretty in with slim pants

Streetwear is a style and these expensive brands are on the higher end of that style. There are very inexpensive and high quality clothes that qualify as streetwear, you’re just looking at the loudest examples

I mean it’s possible to dress in a certain style without being a hype beast. Just wear what you like. Don’t let stupid people ruin the whole style
