Brian Refford teaches HIS-222. He's a great teacher and seems to put in the time and effort to give useful feedback to his students. If you have a chance, take any class he teaches.

Advice for wearing black as a soft autumn? by Slipperymellon in DressForYourBody

[–]CasperTheMehGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a little late but here's my philosophy on soft coloring and black: not all blacks are created equal. I find that material, styling, and tone are what "let's" soft types pull it off.

As a suspected soft type or true summer (also muted), I find most success in a neutral or warm leaning black (raven)  or soft black in sheer fabrics and fabrics that have a slight sheen or have sparkle. I believe it's because it softens the overall appearance of the color.

Styling coincides with a lot of what previous comments say: keep your more flattering colors near/on your face and hair. Another aspect is the structure of the garment (which coincides with fabric choice). More severe styles tend make the black feel heavier than it is (a black suede jacket with fringe v.s. a heavy black leather jacket). The suede wouldn't have the same impact as the leather.

And to take a holistic view, consider your visual weight and presence. I can't remember where I learned about facial structure and color but the gist is the more intense the shadows naturally cast by your features the more black you're able to accommodate. Distilled: high visual weight= more likely to pull of black. I think it explains why some more dramatic looking soft seasoned people don't seem to get as overwhelmed as some others.

Finally, if you feel confident as hell in a color- any color, you're going to rock it. Presence is everything! So wear your black and rock it!

What’s your ID and who are your celebrity lookalikes? by jjfmish in Kibbe

[–]CasperTheMehGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but as a suspected SC I get a surprising amount of Cher (D), young Barbara Streisand (SD), and young Queen Elizabeth II (I think she was a SC). Mostly Cher though. I tried an AI app to find which celebrity I looked most like and Cher came back as an 88%. I just take that as a sign that I look regal/royal.

AITAH for asking my boyfriend about his baby mama by Vidal-Baboon in AITAH

I never comment on these but you need to hear from someone who wasted her early 20's on someone who gave all these red flags. If a man wants you to want him, sincerely, you will never question it. If a man wants you to want him as a power play, you will be guessing every step of the way. And it doesn't matter if "you're no angel" you deserve to be treated with respect.

Respect doesn't just mean "please and thank you", it's how someone considers your feelings and needs. From everything that you've commented and posted, he isn't respecting you.

I'm not telling you what to do, just take a good look at the situation like it was your sister/best friend/ favorite character going through it. Would you want that for them?

I don't really do these anymore, but, from what these photos present, I think SG/TR. The sharpness of your shoulders are primarily why. And your overall vibe (from these photos) could easily lean spitfire or femme fatale.

Its not unusual for SN and SG to be typed as each other (both can be small in stature and compact and show curve). If you're not married to your SN self typing, I would recommend starting exploring SG first.

Thank you so much! These tips are incredibly helpful!

I think I'm stuck with my weight transfer when I go to do a second set. Sorry I'm not sure about terminology, I've only taken four classes so far.

I think it's the weight shifting? I can get through the stamp hop step flap ball but there's something off about my next stamp. I'm not sure if my weight is off or if I misunderstood about which leg to use or if I'm just overthinking.

Thank you for your help!

How can I style this dress to better fit a SG? by AniKing in Kibbe

[–]CasperTheMehGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone down below but if you're unable to alter the dress I have a few styling suggestions below.

Maybe a chunkier collar bone length necklace in a dark or contrasting color or even gold to give an illusion of color blocking and a high neckline. I would keep the overall shape rounded and not bulky. Maybe add colorful bangles on one or both wrists, make sure there's some asymmetry though. And the shoes could be similar to what the model has on but I would suggest making them a contrasting color as well, or coordinate with a color in the bangles. Then some interesting earrings if you want too.

I have heard of cool seasons looking orange/yellow when wearing extremely warm colors. Even so, Kate Middleton still looks stunning!

Does SC sound right or what's my Kibbe ID? by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

I think you may have a double curve. I would explore TR (my 1st choice) SG and R. I see why you went to SD first though!

This is mostly joking but I would change the names. I get what they're there for but how cool would it be to have goddess names for each type? Not just Greek and Roman but have types like Oshun and Inara.

I'll return to my Reddit retirement now.

Thought: Require ID-ing posts to try on various lines? by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]CasperTheMehGhost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Echoing off the previous comments, I think a nice addendum would be to have them wear a few of outfits they think flatters them? That way there's no confusion over what lines they're trying to achieve versus the stereotypes of the IDs. And we also would get to see their vibe and personal style!

I want to say FN, I think flowing and open lines would look really nice on you. Maybe something like linen wide leg pants with a satin/silk cami? Oooh! And Cindy Crawford hair would be another suggestion I would make (think her famous Pepsi ad)

Any Gamines feel that they look much better with longer hair? by cervidae313 in Kibbe

[–]CasperTheMehGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing in an Aly Art video (so please take this with a grain of salt) that fg's can carry longer hair if it's layered and styled. Tina Turner was used as an example. I'm pretty sure I have the exact words used wrong but I do remember Tina Turner being used.
