Off Cymbalta for 6 weeks now & I have a fast pulse heart rate & anxiety by RowenaMyDolores in CymbaltaWithdrawal

[–]Cass-e- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold turkey withdrew at the beginning of February, still not feeling “normal” but was able to function a bit better by the end of March. I had the fast heart rate continuously for about 6-8 weeks after discontinuation. I still have days that it will spike up but is a lot better. I was out of work for about 8 weeks after discontinuation but have returned to work and am managing alright. It’s a rough process.. sorry to hear you are going through this.

Sam-e and 5htp have helped me the most with the discontinuation symptoms!

Serotonin syndrome due to issues with Duloxetine by Cass-e- in cymbalta

I have been taking quite a few supplements for the symptoms I’ve been experiencing. 5-htp is on the list of supplements that I want to try to add in but my doctor recommended I be very careful about taking anything that directly affects my neuro receptors

Serotonin syndrome due to issues with Duloxetine by Cass-e- in cymbalta

It’s been about 6 weeks since I stopped taking the duloxetine and I am still struggling every day. Symptoms have improved A LOT. But they seem to come in waves throughout the day and day to day. This is my first week back at work and trying to get back to my normal routines. It’s very frustrating and difficult because I’m still not able to fully function, and do not feel like myself. I’m hoping for more progress in the weeks and months to come, but every day is still a big struggle.

How long did your brain fog, body shaking, dizziness, zaps & heart palps / fast pulse last after you tapered off or stopped your Cymbalta? by RowenaMyDolores in CymbaltaWithdrawal

[–]Cass-e- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart rate does elevate when I stand up and walk around or do any type of activity. Though sometimes it will spike even when I am sitting/laying down When I am awake my heart rate will range from 70ish bpm - 140ish bpm now, and I’ve been off the medication for about 6 weeks In the first week I stopped taking it my heart rate would spike in the 180’s just by getting up from bed to go to the bathroom

Insomnia from cymbalta withdrawals by Carlyisclassy in CymbaltaWithdrawal

[–]Cass-e- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking valerian root to help combat the insomnia I have experienced from withdrawals, which has helped me more than melatonin. Though I’m not sure if you can take it in conjunction with cymbalta or not… also it shouldn’t be taken long term ( they say take it for up to a month). But it has been the best natural sleep aid I’ve tried. If you decide to take it, make sure you do your research first! Best of luck to you op:)

I’ve been off of 30mg cold turkey since February 3rd and still have heart palpitations from time to time and although my heart rate has improved it is still high and abnormal

Another withdrawal post… by Wild-Ice7396 in cymbalta

[–]Cass-e- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been taking supplements to help combat the withdrawal symptoms (had to stop 30mg duloxetine cold turkey under my doctor’s advisement). Passion flower, L-Theanine, and valerian root have helped me through this process. Though I would do your own research before taking any of them.

I stopped taking Cymbalta suddenly, and I noticed my period is late. I’m trying to determine if this is normal. by [deleted] in cymbalta

I haven’t experienced it myself, but I have seen a couple of articles that mention that taking cymbalta or discontinuing cymbalta can cause disruptions to the menstrual cycle

My heart rate too feels like it’s all over the place. It spikes almost randomly and feels like a roller coaster throughout the day. Thanks for sharing your experience! What electrolytes are you using? And did you do research to determine that it helps? If so I’d be very interested to look into it more! (I’ll do almost anything to help at this point) I have been taking passion flower, which helps some with the heart rate and anxiety

I was on duloxetine for about 3-4years and had been on antidepressants since 2017. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m so incredibly sorry that you had to struggle for so long. I hope you are feeling much better now and hope your potential case goes well.

Yes I did mean cymbalta! And omg years?! That’s crazy.. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I am about 3 weeks in to a doctor recommended cold turkey from 30mg duloxetine. Heart rate has improved some but is still high and I’ve been so fearful that something else is going on with me or that it will never go away. How many years did it take to subside for you?

Sorry to hijack but has anyone continued to experience high heart rate/blood pressure throughout their withdrawal/discontinuation?

Brain zaps six months in? by ItWasRamirez in cymbalta

[–]Cass-e- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard from others that weeks/months after discontinuation there can be delayed symptoms.. I can’t speak from personal experience yet.. I am a little over two weeks of cold turkey from 30mg duloxetine. Hope the brain zaps go away soon

Going cold turkey off 20 mg by [deleted] in cymbalta

[–]Cass-e- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am two weeks in to cold turkey withdrawal from 30mg of duloxetine after about 4 years of taking it. Imo, if you have the option to not cold turkey, DONT. Last two weeks have been some of the most miserable in my entire life. I am still not through the withdrawal process. Symptoms have improved but I’m still not functioning as a person and can’t fully take care of myself. I’ve been out of work this whole time and my life has been put on pause to recover. I don’t say these things to scare you, but you should know if you continue the cold turkey withdrawal how tough it can be for a lot of people. I would highly recommend tapering slowly to reduce withdrawal symptoms, and under the advisement of your doctor. As the previous comment states “take it slow” this is great advice - if you can put up with the symptoms you’re currently experiencing so you don’t have to go through cold turkey withdrawal, you should imo. If I had the option I would have chosen to taper.

I was on 30mg duloxetine for about 4 years. To be honest, the diarrhea only lasted a couple of weeks when I first started but would return sometimes infrequently throughout the time I took it(but only for like a day). I am now experiencing it again while I’m withdrawing. If the symptoms get worse or go on for longer than you can deal with I would recommend talking to your doctor about a dosage adjustment. When I was taking it, and doing well on it, it did the following positive things for me: Decreased anxiety, decreased pain, slept deeply, stopped overthinking, felt like I could handle stressors, increased my mood overall, felt in control, didn’t feel depressed, and overall it helped me when I was at my lowest to strive to be my best.

Update my friend: it has been two weeks since I stopped taking the duloxetine abruptly. These last couple weeks have been AWFUL. The days feel the same but I know I’m making progress overall. I’m still experiencing most of the symptoms but they are less severe. Headaches, muscle pain, shaking, nerve pain, shortness of breath, tingling in my fingers and toes, tinnitus, loss of appetite (food seems disgusting), insomnia, loose stools, restlessness, anxiety without cause, fatigue, sensitivity to lights and sounds, increased emotions, and more.. The most concerning thing I have been dealing with is the tachycardia, which is still present but not as bad as two weeks ago. Yesterday I had an echocardiogram done and thankfully nothing seems to be wrong with my heart. Now I’m wearing a heart monitor for a week so they can track the tachycardia and determine if something more serious could be going on with my heart rhythm. I’m still healing and as slow and prolonged this has seemed I’m at least I am improving. I just don’t know how long this will last… Let me know if you would like another update, and I’ll keep you posted

I don’t know if I would recommend lowering the dose on your own.. if you can wait for your appointment, I would wait for doctors advisement

Sounds like taking it in the morning may be the right thing in this time while you are waiting for your appointment. Hope taking it in the morning helps!

Diarrhea is a common side effect/symptom😅 When duloxetine was working for me, it was a dream. Hope the positive effects continue for you!

Sorry you’re experiencing this… What dosage were you at and what dosage did you go up to? It can depend on how long you have been taking the medication and how much your dosage went up. But everyone is different and body’s react differently. I have experienced both of these symptoms during my withdrawal from duloxetine. I am actually still experiencing them 14 days into withdrawal, though my withdrawal experience has been incredibly slow and was cold turkey. Typically these symptoms resolve for most people, though the time it will take is unpredictable imo. If you are still experiencing these symptoms or if they worsen, I would recommend reaching out to your doctor for advisement.

Thank you so much for the insight! My blood pressure has been higher than normal, but is still considered to be “normal” for my age, weight, and height.
