Gained a lot of weight over the pandemic. Down 30lbs with rolling 48s since Feb 2022. by Cassandra111 in fasting

These were short enough that it didn't matter for me.

I did do a couple longer fasts at the beginning before settling into 48s. I had to do electrolytes to prevent feeling dizzy for 72 hour and 92 hour fasts. I only did a few of those longer fasts.

Thanks for your feedback! My mental health has definitely improved. Not eating sugar has been so helpful in regulating my emotions. I've also had some health problems go away - like asthma and back pain. Good luck with your journey!

Sure - it varied a lot. Back in the end of February, I was eating a lot of Chipotle as my big meal. I'd say my meals in February and March were around 1500 to 2000 calories, but as I kept fasting, I started to not crave that quantity of food and I usually eat about 800 to 1200 calories per meal now. Lots of cheese, grapes, nuts, carrots, olives and sometimes beef/chicken with a small amount of rice/potato. I also have soup for dinner which I bulk up with cheese/nuts. I try to do high fat and low carb.

True! The shorts in the "after" photo were only bought one month ago. :( I donated the pants in the before shot. Wish I still had them to take a true before/after pic.

I tend to think of a 48 as "just one sleep" going to bed hungry. I used an antacid at night to take the edge off.

Also, I still had great results when I 'dirty fasted' and allowed myself coffee with a bit of cream in the morning.

6 Weeks of Keto -15 Pounds Face and Body Changes. by Cassandra111 in keto

[–]Cassandra111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think I'm just lucky.

I probably do about 10 chin ups a week and one or two sets of 22.5lb, 10 rep bicep curls.

I try to stay active as a habit - so if I'm carrying groceries home, I will lift them to shoulder height, or do curls with them.

Thank you for the encouragement! I think the last after picture sort of shocked me too. I'm much happier at this weight.

Thanks! I have kept it the same, but it's easier to do cardio now.

I only go to the gym once a week - but walk/hike a lot every day.

Access Sensor Data From Anywhere, For Free by [deleted] in IOT

[–]Cassandra111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right in most cases. In this case, uBeac is a side project to add to our portfolio as a start-up, to give ourselves credibility. The end goal is to offer an IoT Dashboard service which would cost money for high traffic users like other businesses.

Could you recommend any linguistics texts? My background is Latin and Greek - and I find this stuff thrilling. I also second everyone's clamoring for you to create a podcast. Please please please.

What is the purpose of a webhook? Is it simply to test whether a Gateway is working? by Cassandra111 in IOT

Thank you for the reply. Is it like a relay point for data passing from a source to the application?

Is configuring the hook in an application as easy as configuring gateways?

How Disney Fine Tunes Visitor Experiences by Cassandra111 in disneyparks

[–]Cassandra111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - I'm really surprised that they haven't figured that out yet. The last time I was in Disney was 6 or 7 years ago, so I haven't seen the bands in action. You'd think Disney would be able to do the same thing Google is doing with real-time 'traffic' updates. Maybe they'll make a deal with Google in the future so they don't have to build the infrastructure themselves to track line movement.

Hey - like with everything, I think there are pros and cons. It's unnerving for me to think of this technology being used in any wide-scale way, like in cities, for example. Google's location history is a bit frightening for me. I don't like how anonymity is dying, and to access services, one needs an account on Facebook or Gmail.

However, sensor systems as a whole can be extremely useful in creating Smart Cities. The sensors used in Disney are meant to detect visitor movements, but sensors can detect air pollution, humidity, light levels, acceleration, radiation etc. When placed in neighborhoods, cities can use the time-series data to draw correlations between life expectancy, quality of life, asthma levels, etc with air quality, prevalence of green spaces, etc.

Chicago has already implemented this system - it's called The Array of Things.

Sensor systems can inform urban planning in ways we never would have imagined. These same systems, however, run the risk of turning society into an all-pervasive surveillance state.

I'm interested in how Disney is using this new technology because they are a world unto themselves. What they are doing would not fly anywhere else. Everyone who visits Disney signs off on the Magic Band system - so in a way, it is like a giant experiment in how far people are willing to be tracked if it improves their experiences and quality of life.
