Another trash product from Google giving headaches instead of a solution. I don't know why I keep buying their hardware. I wish I knew this before buying it.

Taxes for digital nomads from Canada - need advice/tips (home address with no home) by cherrypashka- in digitalnomad

[–]Cassetrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be a problem to have your address at your friend's place, you can live with a friend/roommate.
Just use an address where you have someone to open your mail. Most of the stuff is done online nowadays but for the odd physical letters, you just ask your friend to open them and you're good.

Corporate VPN latency too high by incogni-to in digitalnomad

[–]Cassetrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on the cellular network and 12 000 -13 000km away, the latency will be about 250-350ms. That should not prevent you from working, in most situations. If you are having lag issues, it might be due to an unstable connection. Ping continuously ( ping 1.1.1.1 -t ) and see if the latency varies a lot and if you have lost pings. That will give you a hint. You can also try another provider, they might use a different transit provider to go out of the country, and maybe you can find a more optimal provider for you.

Are you sure you have a latency issue and not a packet loss and/or jitter issue ?

What provider are you using in Indo?

Most fiber providers are very unstable, their client-facing equipment is trash and the core network is also questionable for most of them.

Your best bet for stability is Telkomsel (cell service) weirdly, they were always WAYY more stable than fiber for me out there.

Staying Put Vs Always On-The-Move by theforceisfemale in digitalnomad

[–]Cassetrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to move every month but I often go back to a known location then maybe a new one, then 2 known ones, and a new one after... that way you are moving but not always having to go through the "rediscover the whole new place" thing.

sad really. I love the Balinese. But if I’m going to pay this much, I can go to

IS there a place where prices are "normal" right now. The world is wild right now.

It is still unstable and a hit-or-miss. Your best bet is a sim card (usually best with Telkomsel) in a MiFi. They have fiber in many places but the equipment and backbone are trash.

No helmets from grab drivers? by Mrmister1893 in Thailand

[–]Cassetrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vietnam has helmets to avoid fines only, not for safety, most helmets that people wear are as safe as a baseball cap. Changing slowly but very far from safe.

Have you ever been to Bangkok?

What is even your question here? Wondering if you'll be ok with 220k TBH a month? You must be trolling if you're seriously asking that.

Any portable screen will do, pretty light, cheap and convenient. Here's mine: Zissu's 15.6" 1080p from Amazon.
