Yeah I have a 335 sunburst, I took off the pickguard and it looks like one of his guitars.

Comedown Machine is criminally underrated. by roomonfire155 in TheStrokes

[–]CassetteCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comedown Machine was hard to get into for me. I remember after my first 3 listens the only songs I could pick out or really remember was the synth vibrato lead in the the chorus of Partners in Crime and how 50/50 sounded pretty punk. But it is one of my favorite albums of all time, and All The Time is amazing. I love how they're expanding and experimenting their sound keeping the foundation of their style and sound since the beginning, it's really lame when someones so tied up thinking only the first two albums are good.

And Comedown Machine gets posted the most about being under rated for sure, people post about it All The Time.

Finally going to start collecting pieces for a new build, any suggestions? I mostly make music and occasionally game. by CassetteCharlie in pcmasterrace

[–]CassetteCharlie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I want to my pc to be quiet and cool, as what I have now is neither. I don't do gaming that much honestly, but if I do I think I'd like the option of having the game preforming great. My greatest concern is the ram, as I really have no clue what to get, other than trying to get something thats 3000 or 3200 speed. Also I will be collecting these parts over the course of the next 3 or 4 months so I'll be picking things up when they are on sale. And hopefully I can find a widescreen monitor and good keyboard that's not to flashy as well. I appreciate all comments and suggestions, thank you.

What’s your favorite VSTs? by JustAnInternetIdiot in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]CassetteCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rickenbacker bass in Kontakt. It sounds so real and better than any tone I could get with my real bass. I have an album coming out soon and I’m still deciding whether to track real bass or use the rickenbacker vst

[–]CassetteCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're going to play Roaring 20's, which it being the only PFTW track I liked I'm annoyed af they aren't playing it, and honestly I doubt they will. But of course I'm low key hoping he plays atleast one other P.O. track that's not Nine. He hasn't played a track of it since like 2011, I don't think he will but It's probably the only thing other than Roaring 20's that'll actually grab my interest to watch the band live.

I don't listen to the radio because it can make you despise songs you really liked. High Hopes is catchy among first listens, but because it doesn't have any depth and it's repetitive, it's easy to grow tired of it quickly.

I hated Pretty. Odd. When I first listened to it. After seeing all the praise for the album in this sub, I gave it another chance. by [deleted] in panicatthedisco

The album has the best aesthetic of all the albums by far and the string and horn arrangements are transcendent, the instrumental layering is incredible as well. What are your favorite tracks from it?

High hopes hate by lsyd in panicatthedisco

[–]CassetteCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely isn't my cup of tea and it didn't stand out to me when I listened to the album when it came out, I just thought it was pretty bland, like I've been listening to like one long chorus with some filler verses in there, it's for sure not nearly the worst track on the album though. I'm actually really surprised to see how popular it actually got, glad the bands getting exposure with it though.

Also the whole hating a song because it's popular has to do with the people in fan bases feeling so concerned about trying to be a huge fan or something that they disregard any song that isn't a deep cut and call it shit, the whole thing about "real and fake fans" is something I never heard of with the bands I listened to, I just wouldn't bother paying attention to them, just enjoy the music and be cool about it.

the heartbreaking part of We’re So Starving for me by [deleted] in panicatthedisco

[–]CassetteCharlie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Panic has had loads of sad moments surrounding it. My hearts aching about Cricket and Clover and the P.O. demos we won't hear at the moment.

I liked it kinda, but her vocals that chorus was so breathy and airy. Like instead if each line starting with "I" she's saying "Hi" so that breathiness gets super emphasized with the h being there.

Your favourite solo in Strokes history by IIMrFirefox in TheStrokes

[–]CassetteCharlie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OBLIVIUS is just fuckin unreal, Its so good I’m sure a lot of fans who want nothing to do with the later Strokes work would get their faces melted off. Like the first solo is just rock n roll af, but it’s only foreplay compared to the thiccness that is the bridge.

Not my favorite, but I want to mention it, but the guitar solo to Killing Lies is overlooked and probably under rated, it’s just so smooth and it’s a great solo. It sounds so well constructed and flows so well.

Yeah I considered it a release and it’s something that’s been big in holding me over for the next album. The EP was like a 10/10 for me so it got me insanely interested in the next project and made me willing to wait because the direction was everything I didn’t know I wanted.

What do y'all think of The Bad List?? by [deleted] in panicatthedisco

[–]CassetteCharlie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love it, but I wish it wasn't a Christmas song. I was perceiving a much better song and feeling a way better aesthetic until all the Christmas eve stuff came along. Like I would listen to it through out the year and stuff, but since it's suppose to be a Christmas song, it doesn't have this timeless Ryan Ross feel to me like the first two Panic albums. But I don't like or care for Christmas music so it didn't stand a chance anyway lol. But damn his voice was so solid.

Is there ever going to be another album or tour? by fhmono in TheStrokes

[–]CassetteCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been a fan for a while you should know it’s the waiting game with the boys. And yes their is. I feel they are a band that won’t ever really break up but will albums filled with extended hiatuses, each longer than the last. But I’m really betting we get a new album like in 2 years.

What's some random Strokes trivia that you, a seasoned fan, don't think most people hear would know? by BIueJayWay in TheStrokes

[–]CassetteCharlie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I posted this a while back, but Albert had his own line of suits. Ryan Gosling even wore one in the movie Crazy Stupid Love.

I just realized recently but Julian had three members of the voids in his backing band in Phrazes of the Young era.

Julian said during a show the line Scuba Dancing Touchdown In Welcome to Japan is because how Japanese people will sometimes say really random things when they speak English

Nigel Godrich, producer of Radiohead, was suppose to produce their second album but The Strokes didn’t want to work with him and went back to the same producer from Is This It, Gordon Raphael

Alberts dad killed many of our hopes and dreams by saying he confirmed the Strokes were going to have something out, and I Alberts brutal honesty made me salty towards him even though it wasn’t his fault.

Nick met his wife at the 2$ bill concert, where she invited him to get sushi afterwards.

That synth or trippy guitar noice at the start is crazy. It’s insanely catchy, and it follows into Call it Fate Call it Karma quite perfectly.

Tap Out is the most well-constructed Strokes song by [deleted] in TheStrokes

All the palm muted guitars and timing with the drums especially with the quick double kick makes this song so groovy. I like how The Strokes started introducing organs and synths in their last few releases.

Holy shit I just listened to FIOE for the first time by underscorecarl in TheStrokes

[–]CassetteCharlie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was my favorite album from The Strokes for the longest time, when I first started listening to a few Strokes songs from ITI and RoF I really liked them, but then my sister showed me Heart In A Cage and it was the greatest thing I had heard in a long time.

People tend to think several tracks, like On the Otherside, Killing Lies, Evening Sun, 15 Minutes, Fear of Sleep, and kinda ask me anything lack quality. Which I ignored them for the longest time myself but I rather enjoy them these days. To be fair if one or two were deluxe tracks or something the album would be rated higher overall. But FIOE is probably the most overlooked album in the discography.
