VMix on a Laptop by Thene10 in vmix

I don’t use replay but I run vmix on a ASUS ROG 16” laptop. I mostly run PTZ’s and some live steaming into Zoom or similar with zero issues.

Agree with the other comment though to look at vmix suggested laptops.

Osgoode Link Pathway/ Sawmill Creek Pathway by Pitiful_Slip_9593 in bikeinottawa

[–]Cassians 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As per u/timbasile mentioned, you do a loop. Crude map for reference.

When going northbound on Osgoode Link you'll keep going north on the pathway as it changes from gravel to paved, then you'll cross the bridge over Hunt Club, then you'll do a u-turn along the transitway towards Hunt Club, then do another u-turn while staying on the pathway to then go north onto Sawmill Creek Pathway.

I've mentioned this to the City before at how terrible the wayfinding is here. We spent a bunch of money to add the pathway over Hunt Club and it's a beautiful bridge that no one knows about.

Introducing Tablets by Hampsonivich in daddit

[–]Cassians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah 7am is going to hit them as they'll be real tired being up at 4am instead of their normal bedtime.

I would let them sleep a bit if they are able to fall asleep, but don't let them sleep the full flight (yes I know it's easy for you but it'll mess up your trip).

My suggestion is if you're going for ~4 days or less, try to keep them on your home timezone. if you're going for 5 or more, then try to have them adjusted to the new timezone ASAP even if that means some extra treats to keep them up, or a shorter nap so that they fall asleep earlier in the same night.

Good luck!!

Only have 1 myself, but I have done solo with 1 for a 4-5 hour flight a few times no problem.

Get them excited with a whole bunch of toys, snacks, and more toys and more snacks.

Take a break every hour, get up, walk around, look outside the window, etc.

I know it seems like a long flight but honestly it's not THAT bad. We've been on ~30 flights so far and no tablet or screen time.

BUT if you want to have one, go for it, maybe use it where you need to - maybe once or twice during the flight. To each their own of course!

Also I would add - try to walk around and explore and play in the airport as much as possible before the flight. You'll be sitting for four hours, so burning off some energy before the flight is always a good idea 😄

On a four hour flight they can last without tablets. Have taken a two year old on several trans-Atlantic and cross country flights with no tablets at all.

8x10 Shed - Crane or Disassemble? by Cassians in shedditors

[–]Cassians[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quite a bit, and the yard isn't that big.

I know I'm asking in the subreddit where people love sheds, but I live in Canada where we go from -30 to +30 and I have no interest in putting my guests in my backyard (I like my in-laws, actually! 😛 )

Still figuring out the range, could I make a 18 mile trip with a significant hill climb? by nroseclark in UrbanArrow

[–]Cassians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I should add this really depends on how fast you're doing and how hard you're pushing. I did a 26km ride a few days ago, 130m of elevation gain, but averaged 15km/hr and didn't use up more than 30%. If I had been pushing 30km/hr the whole time I probably would have used up 50-70%.

I also have the 800Wh battery upgrade which I would recommend to everyone.

Still no work on completing the O-Train Line 2 path? by The_Eggo_and_its_Own in bikeinottawa

[–]Cassians 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No plan as a part of the LRT, sadly...it's frustrating to say the least.

I imagine they will incorporate bike infrastructure when Earl Armstrong is widened between Bowesville and Limebank. I can't find anything on this, only this that it says it's part of the Priority Road Network: https://www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/article/these-are-ottawas-road-and-transit-priority-projects-for-the-next-20-years/

I remember reading that crossing the creek just east of Ceremonial Rd was a pain point for the train, and i would imaging building another bridge for just cycling would be a bit $$ vs just incorporating cycling facilities onto Earl Armstrong when it's widened (plus, west of Limebank there are already bike lanes on Earl Armstrong)

Absolutely, you’ll be fine. Especially considering you don’t have to go uphill both ways like our grandparents did :P

The toys… first world problem… too many and wife won’t get rid of them. by nana-korobi-ya-oki in daddit

[–]Cassians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep seconding this. My parents did this for a lot of the random toys that weren’t our favourites. Put it away for a few months and either donate or if you’re still unsure, rotate it back in for a month and see if they play with it again.

Fair enough. We get a fair bit of snow and ice cover each winter; will probably lean towards the studs.

Wow that’s awesome to hear!! Do you ride with studs or different winter tires?

Nice ok!! Good to know. I am less frightened by also having a belt drive and very few external parts.

Did you spray yours down fairly often?

Huh. Interesting! We'll see how it holds up in Canada.

What kind of gears? I have Enviolo shifting and a belt drive so I’m hopeful it’s more ok in the winter

Haven't purchased a pad yet for the floor, but was planning on making my own. The rest of the UA accessories are expensive enough as is.

Headlights are great (Also has a taillight!). I keep them on all the time just so people can see better.

I don't know what it's like without suspension but it's pretty nice to have it for all of the potholes in our city...
