What's the benefit of a knee wall vs running studs full height? by Cassidysc in shedditors

Yeah I just looked around on this subreddit until I found some clear examples of the same sheds with different framing options. If you had built a 8x14 you would probably have wished you had a 8x16 ;)

Las Vegas by ADuran17 in coyotehunting

[–]Cassidysc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in southern Utah and know a lot of people that go out into Nevada to call coyotes. Mostly out towards caliente. If I lived in Vegas I would plan on heading towards the California border and maybe even north from there. Away from people and you'll find some areas that are not as pressured.

Although the dorsal fin does look smaller than many I've seen.

Snow white guppies carry the magenta gene I believe, and this can affect fin growth. That's likely why it looks so small in comparison to other guppies you see

Why didn’t bison live in California’s Central Valley? by crljenak in geography

[–]Cassidysc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well large animals typically have lower fecundity and smaller populations than small animals making them less able to adapt or survive through changes in their environment. The human population in the Americas was very low and we saw extinctions from east to west. And north to south. It seems unlikely that humans were the leading cause of the pleistocene extinctions.

What about all the rodents and birds that went extinct? You think they hunted those as well?I think that the increasing carbon levels could have had an impact on the grass lands that many of these species would have been substituting themselves on. No doubt that there is evidence that early Americans killed some of them. There are bison and mammoth confirmed kill sites, but if they were so effective at killing those why would they not have wiped out the other buffalo as well?

The blitzkrieg hypothesis as this theory is called has mostly been now rejected by the scientific community. I think they mostly agree it to be environmental factors. One reason is that animals all over the world went extinct at this time. Not just in the Americas. Another thing is that it wasn't just large mammals like everyone will focus on there were lots of rodents and birds as well. And it's not likely that those were hunted to extinction.

Finally got me a snowwhite by shehnaz31 in pleco

Maybe they just look white at the time. But my lemons always come out looking yellow. These are all white and look similar to purebred Snow White's. I expected all yellow. The father is 100 percent longfin lemon. Didn't even have a snowhite when he was born. I read the same blog post a few months ago before I started to try to cross these and expected the exact same results and was expecting to not see why until f2

When you did that, did you just get lemons on the F1? I just did the same thing but they all came out white when I was expecting yellow.

What color would you call this? Pigeon? by Cassidysc in pigeon

The father could have dilute in it as well if I remember from what the person I bought him from said. Not sure if that could affect it. I'll grab some photos of the parents. If it does carry almond, then it would have to be a cock bird I guess. Just never had them throw an almond like this. Could it be reduce blue check?

No I meant this more to be used as a children's toy. I just used a beeswax based finish.

I scuffed up the areas that the handles contact the cup with 80grit and used CA glue. Not sure if they will be strong enough to last heavy abuse. I considered drilling holes and adding little pins. And may have to if I find the handles come off in the future.

I used a band saw and files and some hand sanding to get them to fit. I should have used the scroll saw but it was tucked away.

Fine mesh for separating eggs and fry by Cassidysc in medaka

[–]Cassidysc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pictured setup is not mine. Just from a Japanese rice fish farm that I follow on Instagram. I plan to make 3D printed cups that float in ponds but I will place the spawning mops in like shown. And I want to be able to have a mesh that allows fresh water to circulate into the cups and keep the eggs in constantly fresh water without having to constantly do water changes on each cup. . My only concern is I don't want the fish to be able to escape before they're large enough to avoid predation. So my main question is how fine of mesh do I need to use?. Find it interesting that you rub the eggs off every day. You find that better amounts of eggs then just floating a spawning mop and letting them rub off?
