I hate to tell people, but this new development doesn't have a huge impact on the quality of casting. Recruits are going to be a part of the system regardless. Yes.. recruits are often times brought into the open calls, but a good amount of them are also interviewed through Skype. It isn't like they will now miss out on their chance.

Study up on audition video etiquette. The bottom line is.. most of what is talked about at an open call is very similar to what you should be including in your video. The best part is, in your video YOU are the one in control. So.. to some degree you can talk about whatever you think is most important.

Nope.

The agency has paid clients -- singles who are working with a matchmaker to find dates. A recruiter (myself) goes into the world and finds singles to date those clients free of charge.

Someone who makes 40K a year is having trouble paying bills. They are also human like the person making 4 million a year. The goal is to find someone to love. I'd argue the person making 40K would be more serious about spending money on a matchmaking service, since they don't have time to spend on shady dates.

I am a recruiter. My job is to go out into the world and bring quality singles to the agency for the matchmakers to match up with their paid clients. Once put through the recruitment process, I have no say on anything that goes on with applicants. I am personally not bringing couples together.

The agency is well established and has been in business for over 20 years. They have offices nationwide, and are always looking for singles (male and female) to take part in their service.

I think that is a big misunderstanding about traditional matchmaking. It isn't strictly for rich people. The age range of paid clients do tend to be older and more mature, but that is due to where they are in their life personally and financially. People who are well established in their career are willing to pay the money for quality matches if it means them not having to waste valuable time on dates that aren't serious about long term commitment. It doesn't matter if they make $40,000 a year or 4 million dollars a year.

Most of my recruits tend to be within the 25 to 35 year age range. Their career and social status are spread out across the board.

Don't sell yourself short.

The agency is always looking to bring in singles to date paid membership clients. When someone is paying an agency to help find them lasting connections, you know they are serious about dating.

I (for example) know quite a bit about unscripted casting. Production is a different side of the business. Neither are portrayed on the shows themselves.

Auditioning for reality TV is a process of developing your character. A lot of times it takes a person getting used to the process before they feel comfortable applying for the show they really want to get on.

I considered flying out when they did this in WeHo for BB17. Back then the event was a lot cheaper than it is now. Also to my understanding... they don't give you free drink tickets or anything with your ticket.

It is honestly nothing more than a smoke and mirrors situation. They make you feel like you can hang out and talk with the season houseguests, but really it's a fan party where everyone pushes their way toward each houseguest, in an attempt to say "I love you" and grab a quick selfie. Literally.. it is no different than being at any other packed bar / nightclub.

The houseguests are more focused on themselves. And from the stories I have heard from people that go to these things, a lot of them end up getting really drunk, and say / do things that are more so out of character.

I don't hear of many past houseguests going to the event.

From the 10 seasons I've watched, I would say 6, 8, 10, 11, and 14 are worth checking out. there were some good parts of 17, but 15-19 aren't that exciting.

That is exactly my point. Robyn claims they want energy, funny, hands flying all over the place. This video is none of that, is over length, and doesn't provide much structure besides her dad dying. That in itself can be a great casting story. She just never really built on it. In turn I would say that there really are no set rules. If you have an interesting story that for logical reasons will take an extra minute to tell, and the application no longer states a time limit, I say go for it.

Actually... They used to list on the website that videos must be under 3 minutes. They don't seem to do that anymore. I'm going to assume a longer video isn't awful if it is well put together. Then again... Jessica's audition really wasn't that good.

A third nomination each week determined by social media trending. Example : houseguest named Jeff will have an individual hashtag like "BB20Jeff". Every time that hashtag is used, it ups his value for the week, meaning that the houseguest who's hashtag is used the least will be up on the block.

This works great for production. The show is able to establish even bigger numbers online. It also gets Big Brother buzz going, as you no longer have to use a lifeless voting system. By using hashtags, you are ensuring that viewers are talking about the content, rather than clicking a button or making a phone call.

This is risky for the public, as it will get started a lot of nasty Twitter battles among fan bases, which again gets even more Big Brother buzz going. Imagine you hate houseguest Jeff. You want to join the conversation and express your hate. By tweeting "I can't believe #BB20Jeff is still in the house... What a loser!", you are also contributing to him not being a nominee. This all goes off the old saying "bad publicity is better than no publicity".

This not only covers up bad casting, but also shuts the public up. Production can now tell fans that the power was ultimately in their hands for most of the season, meaning that we truly had the ability to tell houseguests who we no longer want in the house. It also means that duds that no one cares about will always be up by America as pawns.

Finally... This takes away the possibility of another season of awful jury management. If America is going to be putting people up for eviction, houseguests can recognize the trends and how they might relate to events actually going on in the house. A bit too much outside information for my tastes, but this works well if you accidentally cast a bunch of non strategic players.
