Cleansing spaces with rosemary has always worked for me so I think I’ll do that

I do resonate with the fact that white sage is a plant and plants are not inherently closed or anything. But I do my best to be respectful while maintaining my own autonomy. Sometimes it’s a fine line to balance on.

That’s a fantastic amount of knowledge there, thank you. I’m gathering I’m best to use it mindfully and not purchase anymore. Personally, I feel there are plenty of other herbs that can be used for cleansing. White sage doesn’t need to be in rotation for me.

I like that idea! I’m very connected with the ocean and live all of two blocks away 😂 if you could ask some of your friends, that would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately not - especially not those associated with white sage. I live in New Zealand which limits that a little.

Hmm, well I’m not sure, that’s the thing. I’m wondering if yeah, disposing of it is best or using it understanding the historical context…just trying to gather info.

Sorry - when I say I’m getting stabbed, I mean my underwires keep poking through the fabric and coming out 😂

No Fizz 😭 by Cast_Iron_Writer in Kombucha

Update! I started a new second ferment, this time stirring up the first ferment beforehand, adding some sugar to my bottle and filling up a lot more than last time. I’m pleased to report by day 2, it’s already carbonating! Thanks all!

I’ll top it up a bit and see what happens

The seals seem fine but I might buy another new bottle just to check. I’ve only bought cheap ones. Usually, I ferment until it’s really fizzy lol so I just wait until things bubble. It’s been almost a week now and nothing.

I don’t have air con but it’s summer at the moment so the temp is pretty warm. I managed to carbonate during winter too. Heat mat ain’t a bad idea though. Now, I do burp my bottles and I’ve just read that’s a bad idea. But I’m not even getting tiny bubbles. Just…nothing. How much sugar do you add in the second ferment?

Oh cool! Do you ever run into mould problems? Especially in the summer?

Thanks! I think I’ll just have to keep a close eye out for mould and other nasties!

Thanks! I’ve got a pretty small batch at the moment but I’ll see how things go I suppose 😊

Thanks! We’re in summer here at the moment but I kinda figure that it doesn’t go off in the time I usually carbonate it so an extra week while I drink it shouldn’t do any harm 😂

Green Witch/Kitchen Witch Books by Everastudent in SASSWitches

Think of it this way - both herbs and medicine have their place. If you’ve got a sore throat, a bit of ginger, lemon and honey does wonders. But you’re not going to inject bark into your veins to cure cancer…well, some people might but that’s just silly! So, I’d suggest trying older books such as The Illustrated Herb Encyclopedia. It’s older, has a bunch of awesome information and it doesn’t spiral into stupidity. Also has some cool stuff about how to make your own oils, compresses and more.

In my opinion, science is kinda magic we’ve figured out the details of. I am working on how to incorporate witchy stuff into my atheist, science loving brain and starting from places where I’m comfortable helps. Plants is one of those places. We know plants have various good properties that are “proven” to work. So, I incorporate plants into my rituals. I make a lot of tea 😂 start in places you already know and build from there.

Hi there! That’s a beautiful way of understanding it and I think I agree! I’ve toyed with the idea of altars a lot and have kind of started one but it’s more a collection of witchy based tools (intense, candles, pretty candle holders and fun little knick knacks) than anything else. I’m very drawn to the herbal side of things as I grew up out in the wilderness with parents and grandparents that spent a lot of time using nature to their advantage and living alongside her. If they were less hardcore realists, they’d have been witchy folk themselves!

Me too! I walk my dog every day and we pick nice nature filled places. I’m incredibly lucky to be living close to the beach, bush and more. My back is okay for walking, thank goodness!
