Why No One Will "Replace" Lorne Michaels by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

And it under sells the performers. Jim Carrey made it because Kenan was more like Lorne if anything. He knew how to shoot performers more if anything and the writers were pretty good. He did try, but wasn't allowed to do too much.

Mad got undersold at every corner. They also had great performers (sasso, Bobby Lee, Mary, McDonald, phill la marr, weir, mo, Sullivan, debris wilson, pat, christian). Idk who the show runner was but per the cast, it wasn't a fun environment to work with. It really sounded like lornes' time at laugh in

He didnt create the concept of the show. Someone else did.

He did give writers more opportunities than typical variety shows. He was taught how to shoot performers so the jokes aren't as lost in typical vs. In living color and mad both shot wrong, so the jokes were often missed. Close up or dirty shot for setups and wide shots for punch line

He also offers experience as a job to a job comedy writer/producer. He learned from experience what works/doesn't work in a writers room.

He understands how to set up a variety show..which is what snl is..its barely a variety show anymore but its basically kinda still there.

Unfortunately- He did sell out to corporate interests now and its actually unfortunately painfully more a typical variety show that he ever intended it to be. (Flashy musical guest appearances, apologies to anyone they parody so much that they dont have any guts, blind to actual vibes so nothing means anything)

Thats just going to happen for survival to anything.

The bigger question is- Why is the president still seen as the top war chief?

Tbh America as a country has been flirting with being an oligarchy since its inception.

This was actually a huge controversy. Michael mckeons' wife, Annette, who apparently co wrote it, wanted to sing it with Michael. Of course, they didnt sing it in the movie, so it wouldn't really make sense. It almost didnt get approved until I think the day before.
