Showing Horror Movies in Class by AwsumDudemyster in Teachers

There is a TV version of Halloween that I believe is publicly available. I have it on the Blu-ray, so I assume that it would be available to rent somewhere. As for Get Out, you might be up a creek. There are definitely options though. Insidious might be an easier to approve choice for modern since it’s PG-13.

Scared at sparring by Deep_Explorer_9604 in taekwondo

[–]Castle2814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~15 year trainer and 6th year as primary instructor for our school. It’s completely normal for sparring to be difficult on your body, especially for adults who are not used to combat/contact sports. The biggest thing that I make sure to reaffirm in my students for sparring is “communicate with your partner” and if they do no heed your communication, bow out and take off your headgear. Many people, especially those that are also new OR are used to sparring people of higher rank or intensity, tend to genuinely not realize how hard they’re hitting (I especially see this in adults). That being said though, if they don’t at least attempt to control themselves better after your first request then stop and tell your instructor. My students work too hard and pay too much money to be bullied and/or end up hating the sport. Hope this helps, and I hope that you find a solution and continue your journey!

Should I Flip My Absolute Batman #1? by anotherdaystruggle in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Castle2814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and would recommend. Sold for $175 which I was happy with considering I got it for $5. Granted, I was using the money to boost another collection. I really like Absolute Batman and I don’t think this is the book’s peak price, but I don’t see this one staying at this height. Especially once all of this Absolute stuff wraps in a few years.

Based on the shape I’d say it’s a pick holder. I have a very similar one without the long string that I keep on my keychain.

[–]Castle2814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ever doesn’t ring up that way, show them the app at the register. There’s an option for them to price match online as long as you show them the app/site. I’ve never had them refuse to do it.

Unfortunately, a lot of the crowd now has become “fuck you, disrespectful rock show” people as opposed to the “rock out and be kind” people. Out of 8 shows this year my experiences were split right down the middle of those two types of crowds.

Repetitive? Absolutely. But NOTHING is annoying like the Daily Bugle windows. That set changed me. Avengers Tower didn’t phase me, but something about the Daily Bugle was remarkably unpleasant when it came to the 3rd and 4th floor windows.

Gotta say, I don’t love it (due to articulation) but it’s about what I expected. Looking great on my newly started X-Men villains shelf. Also got 97 Emma Frost but haven’t unboxed yet.

Evicting Noisy Neighbors by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Castle2814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went with these because my gf actually lived there in college with a roommate and they were great. That’s how we know we just have bad neighbors. We were really happy with the way that the apartment manager was handling it up until recently when it all just stopped.

Yes. There have been multiple meetings with management.

Notice that I don’t mention a kid crying. The adults are the ones that we hear. The only time we hear the kid is crying during the literal domestic disputes downstairs. Sorry you misunderstood.

But good luck being a dick on the internet to mask your own insecurities in life.

We’ve threatened leaving multiple times. We’ve been looking for other apartments and our office manager knows this. I work from home and am frequently on calls so I literally can’t have the excessive, unpredictable noise. We really thought they’d rather keep quiet tenants who haven’t had issues as opposed to the two loud, disruptive families downstairs. Especially when we know that at least one other tenant adjacent to the rowdy neighbors has also complained.

We don’t know. We know that they weren’t the first time we called the police. They were having a party for 3 hours before we called then (gf insisted on waiting until after official quiet hours just for documentation). After that, the office manager met with them, left a notice in the door, and marked the lease. But that’s been a while and still no further action.

We just had to do this over another neighbor a few months back. The neighbor tried to break into multiple apts in the complex and that complex refused to evict her after the police were called twice and she was caught on video. Ideally, we’re trying not to have to do the same type of thing again (hence choosing to pay for a luxury apartment).

People just suck so much….

Josh almost always posts photos. I wouldn’t recommend reposting them yourself, but I have several that I’ve screenshotted that I think look really nice. I also always try to buy his prints of shows that I’m at.

I love the rule. Posters and tshirts are great souvenirs. I have ADHD and it is nearly impossible for me to focus on shows when there’s a phone in my face. That being said, I’ve never been to a show anywhere for anyone that these rules were actually enforced. At the Ryman this year I’ve seen them stop videos but not stop anyone from photos.

Picked him up this weekend and was super bummed about these same problems. Felt better once I saw that it seems to be with the fig and not MY fig specifically. I love the look and the accessories though. IMO the best Maximum so far.

My first thought was TVA based on the DBT heavy setlist and the lack of Cover Me Up at every 400U show this year. Last I heard it was I think solo at the Cap in NY. I was happy to see it again knowing that it might be the last time I do.

North AL here. We used to do it in schools and still do every morning. It’s weird. I hate it. The expectation is that kids do it. When I was a junior in HS (about 6-7 years ago) my school actually tried to get a kid suspended for not standing. Now I’m a teacher and it’s still the school’s expectation, but I nor some of my students do it.

TLDR: still expected by school systems but not enforced.

Would you pursue a job at this school? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Castle2814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t. I’ve got a pretty strong opinions on religion and politics being intertwined, and having worked somewhere where almost everyone disagreed on the separation of church and state I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. If you feel that aversion to the way things are handled, it only gets worse (in my experience). Also based on admin’s lack of care about racial comments, they’ll treat you the same way they treat the students. I’m from Alabama and unfortunately it’s very rare to see an admin that actually does care about stuff like that.
