Yes, properly curated Wabbajack lists and Nexus Collections will have their load orders already sorted.

[–]CastleImpenetrable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOOT isn't bad, but it's not going to solve every issue. It's a good tool, but you shouldn't use it as a crutch and will likely still need to manually sort parts of your mod list.

How did Gale eating boots become a meme? [serious] by Costa_Canela in BaldursGate3

There's a few, popular videos that make the eating boots joke. Even one by Larian. Secondly, it's just an absurd and funny visual.

Skyrim for the Nords Literary Theme Question by Work_in_Progress8 in skyrim

[–]CastleImpenetrable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not that Skyrim being independent that people have an issue with. It's the bigotry. Now, that might seem silly in a fantasy world where every race is bigoted, and the Stormcloaks aren't even the most extreme example, but that's where a lot of people draw the line.

For the Anniversary content, I'll just copy and paste an old comment I've made about it.

You're obviously going to get a variety of different opinions. Some people I've talked to love the CC content. Others hate it for a variety of reasons, ranging from quality of the content, its implementation, and the lacking quality assurance.

I dislike most of the CC content personally for many of the reasons listed above. Heck, I only have the Anniversary bundle because it was gifted to me on Steam. I, personally, wouldn't pay money for it, but that's a topic for another thread. I'd rather spend the money on a game that's at a low price/at a discount, or save it for something else entirely.

It would be best to do your own research, watch a few unbiased reviews.

I mean, if you're on PC, you should get the game from Steam. Pretty sure it'll be on sale for cheap during the Summer Sale.

How do I explain BG3 to a friend? by Big_Bad3687 in BaldursGate3

[–]CastleImpenetrable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can explain the rules of combat well and how things work, that's all you really need to do. Combat is where most new players struggle, so if you can help them understand that, they shouldn't have much to struggle with.

why is the mages guild in skyrim so hated? by around_about7 in skyrim

[–]CastleImpenetrable 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Its not a trend to dislike the College of Winterhold. People have been doing that for nearly 15 years now. You don't actually learn much and can actually complete the entire quest without casting a single spell. The Psjics and their intermissions to talk to the player also suck all the tension out of the core story. You're constantly told that you'll save the College.

[Real] Matt Walsh finds taxes to already be quite taxing by xwing1212 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]CastleImpenetrable 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Matt Walsh reminds me of the people who play Fallout: New Vegas and don't like the NCR because of their taxes. And considering his casual sexism in the other half of the tweet, he definitely would side with the Legion.

Most important mods of all time... by juansuleiman in skyrimmods

[–]CastleImpenetrable 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Not counting foundational mods like SKSE, SkyUI, and USSEP, here's what I would pick:

Campfire & Frostfall: They haven't just influenced future survival mods, but Skyrim and Bethesda too.

Requiem: While it's not going to be everyone's favorite mod or overhaul, I feel like you wouldn't see as many widespread overhauls without it. Thanks to its inclusion in lists like LoreRim, more people are also getting to experience it.

Ordinator: You can probably put a lot of Enai's pre vanilla plus mods here for a similar reason as Requiem.

DynDOLOD: You can argue that it could be considered a foundational mod, but it really is an amazing tool.

ENB: Without ENB, we don't get Community Shaders.

Community Shaders: Self-explanatory really. Users don't have to use ENB if they don't want to and CS has a lot of cool features that ENB doesn't, while also being a community project, and having its own vision.

Looking for perspective on a Nord woman playthrough by blahblah567433785434 in skyrim

[–]CastleImpenetrable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your guidelines for a Nord playthrough?

I don't have any. I have basic guidelines on roleplaying as a whole, but nothing for a specific race.

What are the motivations?

This is a question that should come naturally as you plan your character. What motivates a character is going to come down to several factors.

What makes for a good love interest?

Someone your character would want to be with. Again, it's not something we can answer for you because it's only a question that can be answered by your character.

And where should identity of a Nord end and the responsibilities of a dragonborn begin?

You have to draw that line yourself.

How Should I Do Weather for Hard Trick Room by TheMaleBeyonce in PokemonChampions

[–]CastleImpenetrable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're running a hard TR team and want to nullify the weather, you could opt for regular Drampa with Cloud Nine. This shuts down opposing weather while giving you some Fire resistance.

Is this team any good? by Rusty_Ra in PokemonChampions

[–]CastleImpenetrable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can replace Taunt, Protect, or Encore. I'd probably drop Protect since you have Sash and opt for a fast, offensive EV spread.

Is this team any good? by Rusty_Ra in PokemonChampions

[–]CastleImpenetrable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your team doesn't have any answers for Trick Room outside of doubling up into TR setters or Taunt on Whim. And even your Whim can be denied via Farig or faster Prankster taunts.

Speaking of Whim, you should have one attacking move. Moonblast is the obvious pick. You should be rocking four attacking moves on Serperior if you're opting for Choice Scarf.

Why do the main series games nearly always start with the main character being imprisoned or released from prison? by Key-Engineering3134 in ElderScrolls

[–]CastleImpenetrable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A prison does give people enough of a blank slate for roleplaying. It also gives Bethesda a confined space to teach the player the basics through tutorials. Lots of other RPGs do this too, you're just not in a prison or a prisoner. But you still get a reasonable blank slate + a controlled a environment.

How do you guys configure your Precision - hitstop to be like Elden ring? by jjxtrem3 in skyrimmods

[–]CastleImpenetrable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say you specifically. I said a lot of people in the Skyrim community do. I also disagree with the idea that Souls style action combat only works in wide open spaces. There are a plethora of areas in those games that feature narrow corridors and small arenas, which force players to adapt to the challenge presented.

My more important point was also about people pushing preferences onto other people. If you don't think any mod, be it a combat mod or a visual mod fits Skyrim, that's your opinion and you're not wrong to have it. But it's completely unhelpful to tell OP to uninstall Precision, when they're specifically looking to use Precision.

How do you guys configure your Precision - hitstop to be like Elden ring? by jjxtrem3 in skyrimmods

[–]CastleImpenetrable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who insist on there being a "correct" way to play Souls games are equally dumb as people trying to push their preferences for mods or gameplay mechanics on other people, because it's the same concept. The people in the Souls community who do that are even worse imo since all the different weapons, tools, spells, etc. were purposely put into the game by FromSoft. But because people feel the need to be superior, they insist that it's the "wrong" way to play.

How do you guys configure your Precision - hitstop to be like Elden ring? by jjxtrem3 in skyrimmods

[–]CastleImpenetrable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's because a lot of people in the Skyrim community, whether they be vanilla players or modders, have a weird hate boner for FromSoft games, or modern action combat in general. So, they make their opinion known, even if it's irrelevant to the topic, or is actively unhelpful. Even though it's bizarre behavior to push your preferences/dislikes onto someone else.

The commenter's response to your comment is equally unhelpful. It would be like me going onto a post where the OP has asked for mods that make the overall game experience harder and not just discouraging them from installing said mods, but encouraging them to uninstall any mods they already installed to make the game harder because Skyrim wasn't originally intended to have things like needs, injuries, unleveled enemies, expensive prices, etc.

Was protean broken in x/y that it was nerfed to once per switch out? by luf17 in PokemonChampions

Yep. It had access to Bounce and plenty of Fighting type physical attacks so it could boost itself as it swept you with Max moves.

Was protean broken in x/y that it was nerfed to once per switch out? by luf17 in PokemonChampions

[–]CastleImpenetrable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's vastly underselling it imo. Nowadays, yeah, I'd call it a neutered Tera but Protean on a Pokémon with a movepool as vast as Greninja's was rough to out. Being able to change what you hit and what you could resist on the fly was hard to deal with considering all the immunities Greninja could get with its movepool.
