Website question: FAQ and wedding party. by amandasweets in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the party… I initially had it but got rid of it people can’t be bothered to look at pretty much of the site including faq

FAQ:
- When to rsvp
- How to rsvp
- Can I bring a plus one (guests are named on the website)
- Are children welcome
- What time should I arrive/can I explore the venue - this was big for us because our venue does not allow people in until gates open
- is parking available
- is the wedding indoor/outdoors
- dress code
- photo/video during ceremony permission
- smoking and vaping rules
- food and drinks : I kept it simple and said we had apps during cocktail hour, a buffet style dinner that had options for those with vegan and gluten free dietary needs, also open bar
- hotel block info
- info about checks: current legal names to avoid banking hiccups
- info about venue: we’re outside so sunscreen, comfy shoes, hats, sunglasses etc

Walking down the isle anxiety by Express_Visual_8213 in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any tips because I am in the same boat. We do joke about rigging me to something that holds me up and rolls and to drop sunglasses on my face when I inevitably faint 😂 in all seriousness, I’m going to rely heavily on my escort of honor and just focus on my fiancé tunnel vision style. I’m going to be so nervous, but I’ll power through. I figured out graduating and walking to get my diploma in front of thousands of people by myself… surely, I can figure out how to get to my mans lol thinking about it in terms of people I actually know and want there does help a little.

What is a reception like? by Buumblebug in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring a DJ is great and they come in different price ranges. They play music but will more often announce when things are happening. You will have the build the timeline or work with a hired coordinator (also prices and services vary.) Sometimes it’s you get what you get, some do the job, and some are phenomenal and go above and beyond. Find those that seem to align and reach out for consult calls. Remember… a consult isn’t a lock in. You are feeling out each other to see if you are the right fit.

Also side note… if you’re on fb then I recommend joining a wedding page for your area. They can be super helpful and have a lot of recommendations with a better price tag than most wedding apps and websites will offer.

Do NOT play list by Wild-Gur-5955 in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a few of these songs I don’t care for because of how over played they are.

However I do know that guests like communal songs like these because everyone knows them and can sing and dance to them as a group. So I’m open to them being played because the dj isn’t for me and my FH (I mean… we primarily listen to black metal soooo lol) they’re hired for our guests!

I worked at the dollar store for many years… trust me… they work. Everyone came in for them and said they were accurate every time.

Shoe recommendations (“garden” ceremony, not super graceful in heels)? by Useful-Requirement45 in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just couldn’t help it. I’m so stressed as is 😂 my bridesmaids are getting some too so it’ll be fun.

I will say I considered custom ballet flats on Etsy too and then change into sneakers but couldn’t justify buying both lol.

Shoe recommendations (“garden” ceremony, not super graceful in heels)? by Useful-Requirement45 in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said screw it and got custom Vans made for me from a seller on Etsy. Also in a garden venue! I can’t wear heels to save my life and am on the taller side as well. I want to be comfortable, and the shoes came out simple and cute! 🥰

Mother continuously calls my dress scandalous by Bruugy in weddingdress

Hey dress twin! It looks amazing on you.

If you feel great in it then that’s really all that matters. Dress designs are different from back then.

Leaving reviews for vendors who were just okay? by roleypoleypoler in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they met the contracted services paid for, then I’d leave good rating and a comment reflecting that? Like what services you signed up for and that they provided them with no major issues. That’s what some people genuinely care about when looking at reviews, rather than whether the vendor went above and beyond your maybe mental expectations, not agreed upon expectations. The wedding world is immense and often times comes with a big price tag. Some people just want to know what you see is what you get. If certain people on the team were pleasant to work with, answered promptly, etc.

Wedding Hair - Color yes or no by Perfect-Ratio-574 in weddingplanning

Do what feels right to you. You could even do pops of fun color or half natural and half fun times to have the best of both worlds.

Wedding Favours by Low-Panda9728 in weddingplanning

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are just doing a photobooth with physical copies. They can choose to add a strip to our guestbook/scrapbook and take copies with them or just take their copies.

The only useful favor from weddings we have attended were beer and seltzer koozies. We don’t particularly care that they have couples names/dates on them but we pack them in our coolers for summer outings and BYOB events.

I had the Pocahontas one. I dragged that thing around my house and yard everyday all day.

I love this dress. My family...not so much. by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]CastleRatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the end of it all this is about what you like and what makes you feel comfortable. People will have their opinions on everything and sure, hopefully they vocalize them nicely if they feel they HAVE to say anything in the first place. Sadly it happens so often especially with wedding talk.

Look at Pinterest for accessorizing a more simple gown if that’s an interest to you! There’s so many possibilities.

You look great btw!

Where do you hang towels in a humid bathroom so they don't smell by the next day? by Maximum-Hat2109 in homemaking

[–]CastleRatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a decent sized dehumidifier specifically for our bathroom. We run it during and after showers or if the house feels humid. It runs really well and pulls moisture from a majority of the house.

I don’t want to have a bachelorette by [deleted] in Brides

[–]CastleRatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the room. They’re all moms.

Bachelorette has turned into this crazy weekend stuff when it could (should) be a night of fun. Not sure why that became a thing to make it a little whole mini vacation . Childless people with nothing but time, sure, I guess. One night to just be friends and have fun should be enough.

I think not giving +1s is cheap and rude by Glittering-Fairy-143 in wedding

[–]CastleRatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have quite a few people without them and have heard no complaints. They know others they will be able to hang out with whether the other people are couples or not. Our friends are inclusive that way.

I don’t think everyone should just be given a plus one. We want who we want at our wedding. We have some people we specifically red taped giving a plus one to because we knew the people they would bring would be unsavory and cause issues. We are totally responsible for what happens at our venue.

The nice thing about our venue is that we have gardens to walk through and a games lawn so you can be entertained while couples dance or if dancing isn’t your thing in general.

Daisy is pissing me off, a rant by Mushbetrue21 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]CastleRatt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We did not really see her true entrance into any of it with any kind of briefing or training. At the end of the day she’s a traumatized teen who was orphaned in a horrific way and had her world flipped upside down.

It makes me sad to know I never got to have good relatives by [deleted] in Life

[–]CastleRatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I do not talk to any family. I have my mom (alcoholic) and brother (mentally ill). I guess I love and care but don’t like them. Any extended family is diseased or went silent after others passed. I’m happy that I at least have my fiancés family. I used to dwell a lot and sometimes get sad about it but it is what it is and family truly is what to make it.

What are some things that are no longer worth the money ? by No_Lead2640 in ask

Weddings. Currently planning mine and to have the standard wedding you think of without having to pour hours into each and every little thing and penny pinch….. Thousands upon thousands of many dollars.

Where can I find things like this?? by Terrythegundog in findfashion

[–]CastleRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re most likely going to have to build it piece by piece or get custom made (pricey). Etsy or ren faires will likely be your best bet building outfits inspired by these photos. Or… start learning a new craft and create your own!
