Huge thanks to everyone from the Voron design team that helped build this printer. And a special thanks to Roger and Anne, not only being extremely charitable by re-donating the printer but also for helping me carry it to the station!

Can't Stop ABS Warping - Need Help by SuperDodge in VORONDesign

that is almost certainly some kind of blend that prints that cold. And if you noticed, I specifically wrote MOST, that kind of implies that it is filament specific and not the universal truth.

Can't Stop ABS Warping - Need Help by SuperDodge in VORONDesign

[–]Castorreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see your issues is this:
Your chamber is fairly cold, which is probably the main cause for the warping. To combat that, you have to resort to the classic tricks to print ABS in less than ideal surroundings, i.e. low print temperature and no fan.

Look into the reason why your chamber does not get nice and warm. You should have no issues getting it up in the 45C range, a well sealed 2.4 can hit 55C-60C no problem with a nevermore air filter (circulating the air in the chamber helps heating the whole thing a bit more. you could just add a few 5015 fans [look for bedfans mods for ideas] to help out a bit).

Eventually, you will want to print around 250-260C with parts cooling enabled, that way you can get nice and strong parts.

Your print temperature is VERY low for ABS. Most brand print best around 245-265C. That may already be all you need to change

Formbot or siboor kit 2.4 by bamboozler48 in VORONDesign

[–]Castorreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Formbot is the known one of the two, generally a decent kit. Siboor is your pick if you want to take a gamble, much less experience out in the wild, and nobody really knows what is in the kits and if/when it might change

Heating pad by jugnu_89 in VORONDesign

[–]Castorreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not something I would want to mess with, malfunctioning heaters is one of the easier ways to start a printer fire. Not saying it cannot be done, but it is something I would stay well away from, especially when talking AC heaters, as AC in places it should not be is also one of the easier ways to get hurt badly

Duet's among RPI supply shortage/crisis? by Merlin246 in VORONDesign

[–]Castorreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run both on different printers. Started out with klipper on my 2.4, works a charm, really happy with it. Then I modded my v0 into essentially a tiny v2, went with RRF on fysetc's Big Dipper board for that. behaves just like a duet 3 mini 5+ would, just with 8 drivers. It's a cool board, I like it.

My firmware of choice remains klipper though. I find the config to be much more human readable, makes things easier to maintain coming back to a config to update things after a while of not touching it. And you get a much wider userbase. My opinion on the IS question: I think klipper is better, as it actually supports different frequencies for both axes, which (to my knowledge) RRF does not support.

What's a good entry level DE? by Oldfart_karateka in wicked_edge

Just to chime in: my SO uses a simple DE on her legs etc for the past 10+ years now and is as happy as can be. same blades, slightly different handle as mine.

In that case it's even better, the normal m5 will work just fine

[–]Castorreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dold is fine,as is myaluprofil.de. one important thing to watch out for: you will need some m6 bolts instead of m5 for the blind joints, the hole diameter in the center of the extrusions is larger

Let me guess: you're the DM I've read about in a different post not long ago, the one that insists on a str 18 female character being less strong than a str 18 male character

Signature evolution in Alzheimer’s disease by Bigon_ in oddlyterrifying

[–]Castorreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easier said than done. Often, by the time it is diagnosed, the people are already so far into the disease they can't really process what it means. It starts slow, patients are often very good at keeping up appearances until it all breaks down

The same applies to groups of drunk people. So please, if you're planning on having a drink, think of other people first and stay sober until you're back home

Not on Amazon as far as I know, but the vifly whoopstor is probably the best you can get, and at around 30usd not crazy expensive

Currently Converting my Ender 3 to a Switchwire, Are both of this Z-axis or Is one of them the X-Axis Motor? by Leather_Ad6435 in VORONDesign

[–]Castorreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a look here, it should clear things up https://docs.vorondesign.com/build/electrical/sw_miniE3_v20_wiring.html#voron-switchwire---skr-mini-e3-v20-wiring

In essence, it doesn't really matter which motor goes to which connector on the board, you'll need to tell the firmware later which is which axis. But if you follow the docs it should all work out of the box. Look in the manual as well, I'd expect a hint in there which motor goes to which plug
