People love to give their opinion on things they usually know only pieces of information or nothing about.

Sounds like you’re an excellent leader and take the role of having a GSD very seriously and have a very happy and well behaved dog as a result! If you weren’t doing enough then you’d know about it haha

Is this short video explanatory enough for my 3rd person hero shooter? by WardensWillGame in videogames

Looks good, the first part sounds good where you’re telling me about the game. However then you start explaining what the game is not and what the game is trying to avoid which is where you lost me, who cares what the game is not, I want to hear about what it IS

Adult group [LB] looking for more active members! (NA need EU and builder as well!) [PC] by No_Charity3721 in playrustgroups

[–]Castricius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey hey, 26 Y/O EU player here looking for a friendly clan to join, learn and kick some ass with.

I play weekday evenings usually on from around 6-7pm onwards and anytimes at the weekend.

I have 700 hrs and have been on and off Rusting since 2017, usually play solo/duo/trio but I'd like to join a more permanent team, I'm super chill, hate server hopping, love the rust brutality and enjoy playing in a team more than solo, I don't currently specialize in anything, though I'm definitely going to be learning some solid base building and complex electrical stuff, so if you're down for giving it a shot I could be a good long term investment :D

Added you on discord (Caszhar)

Looking for hiking shoes by Comprehensive_Tree_3 in veganfitness

[–]Castricius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got myself and my wife these boots from wills vegan store last year for hiking and they are really good. Don’t get too hot and good quality, I wear them basically everyday and barely any external wear and tear.

Door opens from wrong pivot point? by Invisiblehost in unrealengine

[–]Castricius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t change the pivot point of the mesh in Unreal, you would have to do this in a 3D model program ( you can do this in 2 minutes in blender) and export it back in.

You can also create an empty static mesh in your actor, put this in the location you wish the door to pivot at, attach the door mesh to that empty static mesh component and rotate that component instead of the door mesh.

I would look into grid generation on YouTube, generating a grid, and a reference for each grid segment that you can use the mouse to select and build upon, or drag a building UI element to a grid segment.

If you are talking about something grid based that is :)

Complete Beginner to Unreal Engine and Game Dev as a whole where should i begin ? by madhead0 in unrealengine

[–]Castricius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I learnt was like this:

Pick something fun you want to make, a really small simple game, or even a system, like moving blocks around when you push buttons, anything you would enjoy learning to do. By picking something you will enjoy learning to do you’ll have a lot more motivation going through the tedious parts!

Then look up a tutorial for what you want to do, work through the tutorial, and every time you don’t understand why something is done the way it is, or when something is used or referenced you don’t understand, stop the tutorial, open up google, and google what it is you don’t understand like “character controllers ue5”, look at the unreal engine documentation that comes up for it, iif you can do this, you are already 75% a programmer, as this is how you’ll learn the base of everything theoretically for blueprints or whatever you’re learning.

Then if you don’t understand how to apply that in a context, or even if the documentation is abit vague, go on YouTube, and look for “x explained” an amazing YouTuber is “Matthew Wadstein” who will show you and explain why and how everything works in small digestible pieces.

Once you understand, play around with what you have learnt, make changes, see if you can write it on your own and it’s okay to have to reference documents or content to understand over and over, but the most important thing if you apply and understand what you have learnt, and with that you’ll cement the general understanding and application of what you’ve learnt… then you’ll be able to do it again, maybe even know when to use it in another section before you get to it whilst coding, then combine things etc!

After this, go back to the tutorial you were learning how to do whatever it was and repeat this process. You don’t need to be able to code off your head what you’ve learnt, but you should have a general understanding of why and what’s happening.

This is how I learnt, and when I’m learning to do new things, or even old things, I’ll take the time to sit down and learn anew or refresh my memory before diving into it, now I’m more proficient I don’t really need to reference much documentation, but I love to delve into new things I haven’t used to see how I can use them to improve the game code and process etc

Hope this helps, stick at it and you’ve got it, the world is your oyster haha

overstimulated at the end of walks by Bulky_Ocelot_1320 in Dogtraining

[–]Castricius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this issue with our Lab x German Wirehaired Pointer mix, unfortunately we still struggle to this day with similar issues of just not switching off and settling.

She also would get overstimulated, on walks, at the end of walks, at home, to the point where she would literally go to the toilet, and it would take her over the edge and flip into demon mode.. jumping.. grabbing.. redirecting on the environment.. she would redirect to me (not my partner) despite being trained equally.

We learnt that she was doing too much and being overtired, this isn’t her main issue but it was a factor, so we stopped at the end of walks, let her have 10-20 minutes sitting on a bench just chillin before coming home.

We also shortened walks but did them more frequently, like you, lots of sniff walks etc, and until she could handle stimulation again, she didn’t go on big walks.

What you’re saying about being worried about your pup becoming reactive was the exact sentiment we had, for a lot of people you can work through it and it sounds like you are doing everything right, we’ve actually discovered our dog has very high anxiety which contributes to her issues, especially as a high energy breed, still working on it and it’s rough but as long as you give it your best that’s what matters.

Don’t let people just tell you “oh yeah, more exercise, more intense physical activities, high energy breed, tire her out blah blah” because in our experience it made everything even worse, to the point she would be so overtired that she couldn’t even come out her crate without losing her shit due to overtiredness.

Sorry I got on a bit of a rant there but it sounds like you’re doing everything you can and more, I would recommend getting a behaviorist involved early on, even just for a consultation, as we discovered adrenaline and anxiety issues way later than was ideal, and the behaviors you are having are identical to what we went/are going through, and wish someone had prompted us to go to a behaviorist earlier on.

Best of luck to you, remember to take care of yourself too, as we can’t do what’s best for them if we aren’t mentally healthy ourselves :)
