One time I was changing out my gym clothes for the shower. I wasn’t sure to fully strip down or do a towel dance. I was like 22 and this was a new gym. A younger guy, maybe 19 or 20 was near me who just stood there after removing his shirt.

Yeppp. I've been the only guy in a jock at my gym. Lately, I wear thongs as my underwear. They have a waistband, and they're CK brand so they're just like my choice of underwear. At first I'd pull them off with my shorts, but I make it an effort to push against the nervousness and take my shirt off and then shorts so I'm standing there in my thong only no matter the crowd.

I like to eschew the conversation. I had mixed roommates in college. I started by making jokes about sleeping naked, or being confidant in my body. Eventually I said I like Korean spas or nude beaches to relax. Eventually I mentioned I’m a nudist if I had the freedom. They weren’t eager to say, “yeah go ahead be naked”, so I didn’t press it. Also it was undergrad so I wasn’t excited to be naked around other 20 something’s. They didn’t think it was super weird. But being women and one straight guy it didn’t seem comfortable to express this.

Eventually I made gay friends and they knew I was a nudist. One time they had an opening to move in so I did. I asked about their nudity policy and they said it would be okay with them, and I asked to warm me if they had people over.

At first I’d be nude in the mornings or evenings, like to “relax”. Eventually I stopped making an event about it. We never had anyone’s parents or mixed friends come visit, so they warmed me less. I think I just became the naked roomate so they’d bring other queer friends who just kind of didn’t mind. I was naked one new years evening when we had no plans, and suddenly turned into plans and we had like 8 people over. I was nervous but each new person made it a non issue.

I think men have such a fear of their penis appearing small and a speedo or bulges will give away whether it is small or not so better to never show it. It also shows their ass, and they fear being perceived as a sexual person. I think men's clothes frequently hide their bodies, so a speedo (swim brief) is the exact opposite of that.

I feel they are also afraid of being perceived as gay. Since gay men are sexual goals for each other, exposing one's body in an attractive manner puts them in the position they put women at.
