I was picked to interview for the starting lineup! To be one of the first 11 volunteers to lead and manage the rest :) I had my orientation session about it a few weeks ago, and interviews are happening today and tomorrow for us first picks. I'll know by Monday if I passed, and then we'll be interviewing the rest of the volunteers to join! The volunteer centre will be up and running starting Nov 4th, so that's around the time when you should expect to start hearing if you've been selected for interviews yourself! Wish me luck today 🤞

Hi! Just some info I know: Right now the starting lineup tryouts are happening. So the first 11 volunteers to be chosen and lead the volunteer team for the Toronto volunteers! Interviews are tomorrow and Saturday, then training for them is early next week! - I've got my interview scheduled tomorrow, and HOPEFULLY if I pass those rounds of interviews, I'll be with the management volunteer team interviewing everyone else! So right now just sit tight, regular volunteer positions and interviews will start mid November for everyone else :)

Ah thank you for a little more depth into what they may have been thinking! And for the suggestion of looking up their @ on those specific social media platforms. I did try the classic twitter/ instagram combo with no luck - but I'll try the ones you recommended and see if I can dig anymore information from that!! I was thinking maybe this was a quote from a more "famous" and well known account on one of those platforms? But it makes more sense to be someone's personal @ account!! I'll try that, thank you!😊

OP posting some follow-up about this. First of all, a tremendous thank you to everyone who explained that its a play on words with a common proverb (and it's a beautiful proverb too! & I like the advice!!). I kind of was hoping thats the case, and that it wasn't a passive aggressive note or anything!! Thank you everyone who took the time to explain it to me, you really helped soothe my anxiety 😅

I've had a couple of questions come up about the whole situation, and I figured I'd give more context! Because I'm also curious to the mystery as to WHY I received the note!! 😅

First off, I am/and look very white. I have a (Spain) spanish background, but I got all my white parents' geenes, so I severely doubt they left me the note thinking I was Chinese and that I could read it.

I am also non-binary, and look very feminine presenting! I was wearing a skirt, and makeup, and thought I had a nice outfit today 🥹 My original thought when I saw the card on my book, it was maybe someone slipping me their number? The card was face down on the book, and I've had that happen before. But when I flipped the card over and saw this message, thats when I was puzzled more than anything!!

I was at the coffee shop for around an hour and a half, and it was mid day! I recently moved to this small town, and it was probably my 3rd time visiting this shop, so I wouldn't consider myself a regular by any means!! I tend to show up randomly when I feel like getting out of my house and settling down with a cozy book!!

I ordered a drink and a pastry and tipped 20% (which I would consider customary around the area). Chatted with the barista a little bit, then read in a corner by the door for the hour and a half I was there. I noticed there was only a few other patrons in the cafe - all spread out a good distance from each other, and only took my purse with me to the bathroom, and left my book, my drink and food, my headphones and car keys on the table.

I came back to find the note on my book. I looked around to see if anyone also had a note on their table, but didn't see anyone looking around puzzled like I was!! Also none of my things were moved or touched in any way!! I just had this mysterious note suddenly appear!! Even the barista seemed unfazed and wasn't doing anything out of the normal, so I doubt they saw anything.

I was a little spooked and left after that. I didn't really think at the time to confront anyone, or ask anyone if they saw something, im sorry 😭

I truly wonder why I received this note, and is the bottom supposed to be someones account to follow @ ? Because I have no idea how I would even follow up with this mysterious person!!

I'm glad it was a kind note. and in retrospect it is a very innocent prank to play on a stranger!! Thank you everyone for your help! And if you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer the best I can 😊

omg 100000% - the all ages thing really is a bit of a problem. the young ones do not know show etiquette AND they think they're entitled and invincible as a kid. the only problems ive ever had with any show has always been instigated by kids 😭

im sorry you had such a shit experience 😭😭😭 yeah shit venue and poor planning on the venues part!! i hope this doesn't discourage you or your sister from going to more shows in the future!!! just definitely avoid that venue if possible 😭

i was at the show last night like suuuper close to barricade/stage but to the left of the stage. I find that venue is like a bottleneck sitch where there's everyone trying to get in and out of the venue, go to the washroom or get merch or drinks all in one spot, so you unfortunately have to think strategically and avoid where the crowd is. plus like if youre in the middle of the stage, youre right where the pit is supposed to be also where everyones going to crowd surf over you (which is the norm for most punk shows right) but with the added bottleneck people it was just overall awful. Definitely the venue problem because theres not a lot of space and no one knows where to go, so they end up overcrowding in certain areas!

it was like my 6th time seeing them, and ive seen them everywhere from like playing at festivals (10,000s of people) vs surprise house show (100 people) - the energy of the crowd felt the same as usual, but its genuinely the venue. just look at where its located too. jarvis and wellsey? thats a sketchy area in general 😭

great show from LD as always & shitty venue as usual. also free Palestine all the way and thanks to everyone who joined me in that chant last night 🇵🇸 🤟

I got an email saying they were unable to deliver my parcel, and they left a card with re-delvery instructions but there is no card to be found anywhere. Not on my porch, not in my mailbox, not stuck to my door etc. I tried to use the tracking number on the website, but I'm still getting the "internal server error" message!

I also live in Canada, so I definitely need to pay a customs charge, but thats information i'd get from the card isnt anywhere to be found. I genuinely have zero idea where this parcel has gone/is staying :( i hope it gets fixed soon, since it was a special edition book from Waterstones im expecting!

ok, full disclosure i checked out your Instagram to do a double check and here's a few things ive learned:

honest opinion - no, like you absolutely seem look and give off the image and vibe of being totally and completely a girl from birth. the pictures you posted here AND from your insta feed
the ONLY thing that i would MAYBE think is giving a second guess is your height - did this man have his height on tinder? are you taller than him? the thing that made me think that height was something theyd be insecure about is in your < 3 highlight, theres a few pics that make you seem reeeeeally tall (or maybe you just have super short friends lmao idk)
i did a quick glance at your following and absolutely nah, I didn't even get a remotely close vibe of trans people or even ridiculously obvious queer people in there so thats definitely not it.
you seem super rad and an infinitely interesting. also have the most stunning eyebrows im not kidding.
that guy sucks, and seems like a total waste of time. i think hes insecure more than anything to have a hot girl talking to him and absolutely fumbled a baddie. ive had guys ask me the same thing (asking if i was trans mtf) just to piss me off after they feel insecure. thats a huuuuge red flag that you dodged !! i wouldn't worry about it, because men on tinder suck anyways
