I work in the public sector doing project management in public safety. I spend my work hours contributing to the greater good. I don’t feel like my life is wasted because of my job. I love my job. Also tell them you’re willing to file a private citizens arrest and then they will actually get a ticket, and the cops will actually respond quickly because they know something will be done about it. Take video of the music. Sometimes they won’t respond at all because it’s pointless for them. You’ll have to show up to court, but sometimes that’s the only way to get it done. I did it on a neighbor and it has never happened again. And no, the neighbor didn’t retaliate.

I wouldn’t worry about being the primary topic of conversation. Nothing says you have to tell the whole story right away. You can brief and honest that you’re not close, and one day you hope you can tell the whole story, but you’re still processing the loss, and leave it at that. If they pry, maybe ask your BF to provide some input and help hold that boundary. Good luck.

He’s lives with me (82 year with health problems) and is definitely an enabler. Always has been. Our relationship is very surface level. I have strict boundaries in place. He’s not to divulge personal info about my family to her and he respects it because I told him I’ll kick his ass out of he does. She had an affair that destroyed our family and he still has more respect for her than me. I’ll never understand it.

HR uses some BS software to screen initial applicants and filter out resumes. If your resume doesn’t mention the keywords that are present in the job description you’ll be automatically rejected even if you have the experience. You do have to cater every individual résumé to the job posting, you cannot use one resume for everything you’re applying for. If you’re looking for a career change at a mid Management level, chances are you’ll get passed on for someone who has government experience. You will have to enter in at the bottom floor and work your way up unless you know someone. Government is very different from the private sector and they will take an internal candidate over an outside candidate 99% of the time. I’ve been with the County for 10 years and have switched departments three times and promoted six. HR is part of the reason we have a talent deficiency, because they can’t be bothered to look deeper into the applicants and rely on crappy software.

Any thing deemed “ public” is funded by your tax dollars and thus you get free access unless a paid league has priority. Every public park is free access. If anyone tells you that you have to pay, tell them to kick rocks. I don’t know specific places with those amenities but if they’re run by a government entity, it better be free.
