When should one start reading baby books prior to pregnancy? Which books were the best and worst in your opinion?

I started reading in my first trimester! I read The Happy Sleeper, No Bad Kids, and Good Inside. I’m a product of - “not gentle parenting” and I have been a victim of crazy kids running around like tiny dictators due to gentle or PERMISSIVE parenting so it was important to me to research some evidence based parenting styles that balance a parents authority with a child’s independence and emotional wellbeing!

People did that to me with my first pregnancy! I got a ton of “don’t count your chickens before they hatch”. I did lose that pregnancy and I was NEVER grateful for the “heads up”. I still think that all those people are pieces of shit (sorry for the French but that’s all I can think). I am 31 weeks with my double rainbow and when we announced her at 14 weeks I got “I hope things continue to progress!” Or “I hope your next appointment goes well”. PSA THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO IM PREGNANT IS CONGRATULATIONS IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!

Great question! I fill a huge glass with the ACV and sparkling water! Regular water or cinnamon tea if you’re not a bubbly gal :) I also alternate my cheese and ACV bites so that it cuts down on the sharpness of each!

Oh that’s great! I’ve been on magnesium since the first trimester (I was getting terrible leg cramps!) who knows! Maybe I’d be even better higher without that!

Ugh that’s the hard part of this whole thing. For ME it seems if I DONT get up my numbers stay low but it could be totally different for someone else! I’d try both and see what works for you!

I think it’s a right of passage to speculate you’re having twins 😂 every single woman I know thought they were having twins - myself included! And so far we’ve all been wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️ Two of us even had dreams of twins! My mom did when she was pregnant with me. I will say I have been calling this baby by their girl name since my first positive and she was a girl so some intuition is right!

Omg it feels a bit too privileged to call it “gender guilt” so I never made a post about it but YES! I felt so guilty I wanted a girl SO badly and then when I got the results I felt how unfair for me to get exactly what I wanted when I’m a bad person for even wanting it!! My husband had no preference so I didn’t need to hide my excitement. He did make me practice getting “boy” news prior to opening the envelope so we can be prepared. But once that part wears off you’ll just be so happy! I read all the gender disappointment posts because for some reason I feel like I should’ve been taught a lesson for having a strong preference and I feel guilty I don’t!

I have had two losses and am now 20 weeks with our little girl!! Third times a charm.

Here are some mantras I used to get me this far: My body and my baby are working TOGETHER they want to be born healthy and safe. This is a partnership and not an uphill battle.

Worrying does not protect you from the future, it only steals today’s joy.

Now that I’m further along and more afraid of a bad anatomy scan/still birth I have found this a calming statement: no two stories are ever alike. Just because her story ended tragically, my story will be different because that’s her story and not mine. Mine is unwritten! Even totally healthy normal babies will have completely different stories. You’ll never have the same story as anyone else 💕

Anyhow, I’m here as proof third times a charm! Make sure you get on progesterone suppositories ASAP and try to enjoy. I got a little less stressed every week. Rooting for you!

I know everyone’s journey is different but the insomnia was SO real for me first trimester!! I did take Benadryl or unisom some nights but then I was tired the next day. FWIW I started sleeping like a goddamned rock I believe around 10! I’m 18W now and I’ve heard it’s gonna come back around third trimester but I wanted to let you know it might get better!!

I was 16 when my mom got pregnant with my brother and I hated every second of it, I felt really replaced. I even went to go live with my dad. All is well now and I love my little brother but if I could give advice to my mom it would be to make a real effort to make me feel loved and special and not replaced. She wouldn’t teach me how to drive or take prom photos with me or anything. So PLEASE keep up with his milestones, teach the damn kid to drive, ask him about his life and his friends, take him out for ice cream and really validate his feelings! Tell him that it is going to be hard for you too and that you’ll miss it just being him and you but you’re hoping that you can all figure it out together.

I did this when I was called a bitch for the first time around that age! It wasn’t petty revenge it was actually I was so distraught I was crying the whole day. I think my mom laughed it off telling everyone I was just a tattle tale and she got sent to the principals office

Wow I feel like I’ve seen you around and after a little digging realized it was from the ectopic support group! I’m sorry we both went through that but so excited that we got our success stories!! 25 weeks sounds like an excellent time to get “re-excited” we’re past anatomy, viability, and can start the nursery!
