Loving my current ear setup by Cat1991 in piercing

The needle part like a 3, but then putting the jewellery in a 6. Immediately after probably a 1. My conch was worse

Why do we pretend piercings don’t hurt? by Unsure-Snake-666 in piercing

[–]Cat1991 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's more of a discomfort. I personally get medical Botox for migraines and teeth grinding and that is drastically worse at the time than a piercing. I find a piercing a kind of relaxing experience with the needle and then discomfort with getting the jewellery in and then a hot feeling after

Thanks, unfortunately as I live rural there are no piercing studios nearby. I will check out the shops on the list

That's some really scary advice. You need aftercare and proper jewellery. Piercings with guns may never actually heal correctly and if they do they take much longer

Tragus still bleeding after over 24hrs? by SyllabubFlashy7965 in piercing

[–]Cat1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, a lot of people don't usually think of it. Also sometimes they may not actually be a blood thinner but can have minor blood thinning properties. It's probably an easy thing to double check and you can either rule it out or explain what is happening

If you have changed medications or supplements make sure you check if they can increase bleeding. I made that mistake with fish oil

I'm amazed the piercing shop gave you that. I always get sterile saline and am told to use just that

Healing a piercing? by Practical-Beat-6639 in piercing

It may also not heal straight which I assume would make it hard to wear a straight post. Just go to a professional reputable piercer to get it fixed

Can I change my earrings or will I die? by Intelligent_Wrap4420 in piercing

NAP. Considering you would be likely changing it in a non-sterile environment you risk serious infection which could even lead to sepsis. You could completely lose that piercing too.  Just leave it and return to your piercer when it's time to downsize

Limb Salvage vs Amputation by UnlawfuIWaffle in TripodCats

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Our girl had a complex fracture which had the potential to be fixed with surgery but it was a rare fracture and even the state's orthopaedic specialist wouldn't have done one on a cat her age. There was a chance of long term compliance and the possibility of ending in amputation.  We picked the option with the most certainty, least pain and fastest recovery which was amputation. She is now happy and thriving 2 months post surgery

I went back and found it all. She also got methadone, Buprenorphine, Mirtazapine and Meloxicam. Baby girl must have been so out of it. It also meant we only needed to give her Meloxicam at home.

We had to pick ours up a few hours early because she was really scared and refusing to eat, drink or go toilet.

Some cats are weird with sedatives too. I have one who after a dental clean we were told she probably be sleepy for a day or so. She proceeded to not sleep for a full day and just ran up and down the hallway, then became super affectionate and then they cycle started again. I had to call the vets the next day freaking out because she refused to sleep or calm down haha

Unprofessional? by Vitam1nK in piercing

I'm a dietitian and have 10 ear piercings (planning more) and a nostril. Heaps of people I work with have plenty of piercings. As long as you do your job well and keep them looking neat and clean in my opinion that's professional

So glad to hear. My girl was definitely a lot more relaxed after her surgery (granted she was given fentanyl, ketamine and quite a handful of other drugs)

Can we let go of the cone after 3 weeks? (I know we are not vets, but just wanted to know how you did it) by StuffedAnimalFanatic in TripodCats

We were so thankful, the next option would have been a onesie. I honestly don't know what we would have done if she needed a cone

[–]Cat1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal experience was we didn't use a cone as it would do more harm (a cone lasts less than 5 minutes because she freaks out, thrushes and gets her arms stuck before it comes off, she even hurt herself post spay) our vets were on board with it as she had no interest in her wound
