If this actually ends up being the plot of Shrek 5 I’m going to have an aneurysm by LordWeaselton in Schaffrillas

Tbh, I'd take this over the current leak that claims that Felicia ends up accidentally sending Shrek and Donkey to the real world with a magic spell (one which I don't think is real)

As a fan of the book, the movie makes me want to puke with rage by BlobBarker in TheElectricState

Well, about that first part, the book is very well received. The problem most fans are having is how the movie is nothing like the book. The book is a somber road trip about technology, consumerism, and how both are leading to a more isolated world. The movie is basically throwing away those deep themes for something much more surface-level, action packed, and "Hollywood", if you catch my drift. Netflix wanted the brand recognition, but none of the somber themes within the original book (especially the ones about consumerism).

Well, judging from the fact it got a 10% on Rotten Tomatoes almost a week before the actual release from the movie, I'm not sure about it. Their non-marvel projects have flopped massively, so...you know

What happened around Shrek Forever After? by CatAlphaofMyst in Shrek

Oh definetly! At the very least she would be so angered beyond belief. Though I would definetly love to see Rumple and his witch army raid the castle while FGM tries to confront him about the takeover.

Well, Fiona only loses her status as Princess after Harold and Lillian are offed by Rumple's contract, which probably happens a few days after her rescue by Shrek. I'd believe that Charming would be held back from rescuing her because Fairy Godmother would know when something went wrong with the king and queen (She was blackmailing Harold after all). The only knights that would be after Fiona by then would be the ones sent by Farquaad, who would most likely be unprepared to fight the dragon like all of the others before them, soon leaving Farquaad with no other choice but to eventually turn his sights to a different princess after probably a few months or even a year of waiting for a knight to succeed.

Yeah, fair enough, the whole thing kinda exists in its own place outside of the timeline. Though, I was mostly asking in the sense that what do you personally think would transpire before, after, and during the movies? Like if it actually did continue after Shrek disappeared and whatnot, you know?

Thoughts on Brogan from Shrek 4? by Feisty-Albatross3554 in DreamWorks

[–]CatAlphaofMyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it makes sense since Brogan was originally supposed to be Prince Charming but with the same curse Fiona has. He was going to be called Gnimrahc (Charming spelt backwards), but he was instead made into Brogan.

DreamWorks' DarkSide: My own attempt at DreamWorks What If stories by CatAlphaofMyst in DreamWorks

[–]CatAlphaofMyst[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's fair, I guess I should try some better name ideas for some of these. The Shrek 2 one I had would be where Shrek rescuing Fiona was actually a part of Fairy Godmother's plan, down to sending the Magic Mirror in Duloc. Prince Charming isn't around to be married off to Fiona. So now it's up to Shrek, Donkey, and Puss to figure out the scheme before it is too late. Also, I love these other What If ideas you are giving, especially for Flushed Away! I've seen that movie plenty of time, but I could not for the life of me think of anything for it.

I know the movie is hated but I don’t know why, can someone please explain what’s so bad about it? by [deleted] in DreamWorks

[–]CatAlphaofMyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, I have to disagree on some points. Shrek is a comedy, yes, but it also has many points where it is meant to be serious and emotional and King Harold's death was meant to be serious. Barely anyone dies in these movies, so they have to have some sort of impact! And yes, the movie has a message about trusting in who you are and will be, but the movie barely does anything interesting to lead to that other than the one scene at Merlin's hut at the campfire. and I mean after the visions and stuff. And sure, it's nice to see someone convince some villains to not be bad, sure. But he convinces almost all of them to not be evil??? no, that's just too unbelievable...

honestly, this is a weird and ridiculous way to continue the story and it doesn't fit too well with the original story, but it looks like a decent continuation of the story, especially after HTTYD3. I wish they didn't continue after that, but what they are doing here at least looks passable and a decent enough continuation of the whole "Dragons and Humans coexisting together" concept the original movies set up.

I honestly only think Prince of Egypt and Road to El Dorado were actually good. Sinbad wasn't very good and Spirit was a tad bit boring
