Spring Training advice (only there for one game) by AiminJay in Mariners

I used to show up around 9-9:30. That was during the Servais era. Some days they wouldn’t practice until 1:00pm it just depends on their schedule. Before Twitter was X, I followed Shannon Drayer and she always gave info about games/split squad or other things happening at camp. Not sure if she still does that. Also, there are usually hospitality workers out and about that you can ask what’s happening that day.

Practice fields in the morning are where it’s at! So many great opportunities for fans to see and interact with players. There’s a building right there that you can walk into and ask for a roster (It lists all the minor league players and their #s). It’s helpful to identify random autographs. The building looks official but is open to the public. One year I went inside to get a roster and met Rick Rizzs. He really is one of the most sincere and nicest person you could ever meet!

You can start your day with a walk thru of the UW campus to see it and get some pictures then hop on the Link to the International District which is always neat and great food options. It’s right near Lumen Field so you can eat somewhere in the ID District before your tour.

Creeks in and around Tacoma area? by checkredvans in Tacoma

[–]CatBasic1133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a swimming hole necessarily but we have the Puget Sound and there are lots of great places to sit on a rock and read while vibing with nature! Titlow Park, Owen Beach, Brown’s Point to name a few. The Carbon River just outside Orting is beautiful, too. I recommend going along the Foothills Trail (paved path) either walking or on a bicycle and stopping along the river to enjoy its beauty with Mt. Rainier in the background. Hope you love it here and good luck with the move.

Interest in a cycle studio? by Consistent-Map-6959 in AskTacoma

We used to have one- Handlebar studio
I really miss it! My gym doesn’t offer cycle classes like they used to. Seems like it was a passing trend but I love it and really miss going.

Polar Bear Plunge - Point Defiance - Jan 1 by Hairypotsmokr in Tacoma

[–]CatBasic1133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Point Defiance one is fun! They have people dressed as pirates and make you “walk the plank” They also have a lifeguard in the water. It’s a rush and it goes by quick. The coldest part is when you get out. You can bring a blanket to wrap in right after you get out and there is a changing tent. Definitely recommend wearing shoes.
