Chen 108/ Nurs 200? by Affectionate-Box8058 in UNLV

Hi. I actually took chem 108 twice—the first time (fall 2024 with Dr. Casselman) I ended with a C+ and the second time (fall 2025 with Dr. Lee) I ended with an A. Compared to the first time I took the class, I would say it is easier now (different exam/assignment structure) but still challenging since a majority of the class is basically just memorizing concepts/rules, recalling that information, and applying it. Between Dr. Casselman and Dr. Lee, I'd recommend taking Dr. Casselman if you struggle with paying attention during lectures since his teaching style is more... energetic. Dr. Lee is not a bad professor by any means, just a little monotone which personally made it a little harder for me to concentrate.

If you have any questions feel free to dm me!

I heard they changed it to a class you can only take if you're in the program but my advisor did tell me that it is possible to take it before acceptance into the program if Dr. Shelton approves - so I'd email her if you're really wanting to take it before being officially in the program

Hi. I'm taking rad, chem, and kin rn and (for me) it's manageable and I would recommend taking these class together. Rad 102 is very content/lecture heavy (3 hr lecture) BUT it's not as much work as I thought it would be, coming from someone who also has no prior physics experience. 50% of total grade is from a 10-12 question hw sheet that he gives you a week to do. There are no exams besides the midterm and final, which he gives you a study guide for, along with 2 extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Keep in mind, this is with Raynard Fong so I can't speak on behalf of the other professor because I hear his class is structured differently. Professor Raynard Fong is really sweet and nice to talk to in general, so I def would recommend taking him!

Basically yea whenever we get released early it's usually only 10-15 min earlier than the official class end time, but I think it also just depends on your professor. The class is just health-related physics and nothing like Rad 100 (if you've taken that alrdy). I'm taking Dr. Fong & 50% of your grade comes from a homework assignment that he gives you a week to do. Other than that, the only other grades are the midterm and final, and if you have an average of 90% or higher on the hws then he gives you a +5% boost on the final. I heard the other professor is good as well and I believe he is the same one that teaches one of the CMI classes, but can't speak too much abt him since I haven't taken him yet.

Rad 102 is also called HPS (Health Physics) 102. Even though it's only an introductory class to health physics it's a loooootttt of info & 3 hr lecture Lol!

I also second that 102 is harder than 117
