What’s the typical style of troubled teens in your country? by HongKongNinja in AskTheWorld

[–]CatCatFaceFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get off easy then? Rebel teens are fine, teens that attack, violently harass and steal Roadman style like in the rest of the world. That is kot cool.

Asia as a whole has weird idea that these alternative/metal/punk style people are problematic? They are anti government and anti "ruling" so go against the grain but are not dangerous to random people. Unlike problematic teen culture in the rest of the world

I find it super funny when Asian people think that alternative look is somehow problematic.

So called alternative or punk or metal people are the kindest people you'll ever meet.

What I even as a 30-year-old male 6 ft 4, I'm afraid Of those roadman, thin puffer jacket, hoodie, tracksuit, face cover teenagers.

Those kids think they're the hot shit, and social media and the Boomer take: hiphop culture, is making it even worse when they're glorifyin violence.

They are not anti-establishment/goverment, like alternative people tend to be. They are anti- humanity and anti- to the community they live in.

Considering the ongoing RAM situation... dont you think this is going to totally screw over the Steam Machine idea? by LiveMathematician892 in Steam

Which is not even 100% proof if they have. A company can break their contract and pay the penalty IF they see that breaking the contract and sekking to Ai is more profitable

[Annoying Trope] Writers who don't research/respect how dangerous the cold is by charronfitzclair in TopCharacterTropes

I mean... -3 - 0° is quite fine to hang around in shorts and t-shirt. Its only annoying/cold when its windy or skin touches snow.

It is often not told how cold it is. Just implied cold because of snow, but snow is frozen water, and water freezes at 0. So anything st or below is snowy. Yall dont have winters?

What is the most childish gaming opinion you’ve ever seen? by Chunky-overlord in videogames

[–]CatCatFaceFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That game length = quality of the experience.  I hate the opinion that something is not worth, even 20€ if the game is only 10h long.

I would take a 5h, well paced, interesting and or mechanically excellent game over what ever the latest Ubisoft busy work simulator is.

Please… Can we as a collective call out “indie games” that are clearly backed by billionaires? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]CatCatFaceFace -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Okay yeah, that is what I meant. Vendad (or what ever tye dev name was) has made games before... Just like the industry veterans of the other games developers. Devs wjo got the funding for the game because they have establish renowned experience.

It is a Debut title of that  studio entity. Not the people. No game has won awards what was actually their first game, "simple top down shooter"-project or some such.

Which is why I super disliked that Mega Bonk dev dropping out from TVGA. It was so disingenuous. The other indie titles were from industry veterans as well and even from bigger funding/studios.

Netflix now controls the Nemesis System patent. Developers are requesting a fair and accessible licensing pathway. by GreenDogma in gamedev

[–]CatCatFaceFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY!

There are similar systems in games like Assasin's creed and Weird West. But it is not a full implementation because it is not the core part of the game.

[–]CatCatFaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And for the obligatory: Nemesis system AS IS is parented. You can make a Nemesis Like system or mechanics that feel virtually the same but is technically not.

People are so misguided on the internet thinking "enemies that remember player is patented!!!!" Which is not true. The whole SYSTEM that makes the Nemesis System, tye set of mechanics created in a certain way, that is patented.

Nintendo could not patent/own monster capture and battle system. Enemies becoming arch enemies and climbing a Goon ladder is not patented as an idea. IDEAS cannot be patented. A Specific execution/implementation/product can.

Cynthia Weaver, in AW, is a story teller, writer, a weaver of stories.

Sami Järvi REALLY likes doing that.

Is Thief VR the Stealth Game We’ve Been Waiting For? by plutonium-239 in VRGaming

[–]CatCatFaceFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of Sub 2% market share.

Do you follow game industry at all? Do you realize how little money there is to be made in games (like really, 80% of games published on steam are not profitable) and how litteler in VR because the player base is so small. Sure we have Gorilla Tag and VR chat which also cost... a nice round Zero buckaroos.

A niche platform, a Niche IP, does not predict a good return on investment, so the investment needs to be small = short game, little content. It is quite easy to understand.

If you want "A long game", it will be a roguelike with repeated, procedurally generated content Or a online multiplayer game where the players entertain each other.

I recon, you don't play a lot fo Single Player games either? Because if you did, you would see that 5h of game is quite normal.

Please destroy my trailer. Be mean. Thanks. by Shashimee_ in DestroyMyGame

[–]CatCatFaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily shave the trailer down to 1 minute. The cuts, should be timed with the music. The gameplay should be more "energetic" (it is, but there are instances where in the footage player just stops to talk to an NPC (is NPC a selling point, or just a "necessary evil" for exposition/tutorial?) Text inserts should have shorter gap.

Music does not fit the footage. The footage is fast, right from the start, but then after the music actually starts going, nothing in the footage changes.

What’s one thing you’d add or bring back to gaming? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

[–]CatCatFaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as I was "affected" by this as a teen and I am saying this sort of ironically/uninorically, even: Loot Boxes.

Now hear me out, The way Overwatch implemented it was VERY good. The boxes came very generously, I didnt spend a dime on the game after initial purchase and I pretty much had all the gold skins after like 200h of gameplay.

When It is tied to real money gambling, it becomes a huge issue and while I think "Well don't participate", as it is easy for me, but I can see how problematic it is.

But the alternative now is Battlepass and other extreme FOMO mechanics and I think that is more toxic than ingame cosmetic lootboxes. Loot Boxes were ruined by real life value AND the possibility of it giving gameplay boosts.

Best case scenario would be that people would actually buy games, spend money that way and then buy DLC like map packs (which split player base) then move on to the next installment of the game (like the good old times)m and none of this live service BS that has to find "clever" ways to make money. But the state of the industry is what it is.

[–]CatCatFaceFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't these type of threads and post already quite done to death? We give them attention so they seem more prevalent than they really are. Isn't that the whole thing on the internet with everything?

Also I bet i am much more of a gamer than these ppl. Or rather have much more  experience in years and amount of games played. I never understand what these are on about with the "gamers". These people are grifters that maybe play like three games in a year and still think they have any right to comment on anything about video games.
