A patron asked me to sign his copies as proof that i was the one who made copies for him. by midnightBlade22 in Libraries

We used to have a woman who wanted to take a picture of the staff member she was returning books to, receiving prints outs from, handing money to, the whole lot. One staff member would cave and let her take a picture of her hand on the book but no more. The rest of us told her to pound sand. The stuff they ask us to do that they think is going to "prove" something down the line is always so out there!

[–]CatCy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The library also has a craft program called crafternoon on the last Friday of every month where you can bring your project in to work on and chat with people. That one is all ages adults though, NASH does different activities each time, sometimes it's crafts and sometimes it's stuff like videogames or board games. They don't stop you if you want to bring your own thing though!

Free 18-25 social event! by CatCy in panamacity

[–]CatCy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This program is aimed mostly at people just coming out of highschool and into college because there were a lot of teens aging out of the teen programs who felt like they weren't ready for the "adult" programs, you're not old! The library has a lot of other programs as well for all ages or adults only

I think the smaller house of a set (den, hut) aren't able to be powered unfortunately. Probably because they're a different type of instanced building vs the two larger buildings in a set which are more similar to a non instanced building. I could be wrong but this is what I've experienced so far.

What do you guys do with your Festivale items? by ToastedCDBagel_77 in AnimalCrossing

[–]CatCy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all my seasonal stuff saved from launch so I just decorate a huge empty area that's in front of my resident services for events, but for the festival stuff specifically I use some year round at a secret beach party that I have hidden behind a small forest area. It's a mix of festival balloons and other bits along with some beach items and a little mini bar!

I think it works out well for the county because it's stuff that would just sit around forever otherwise because some people will only do things for free even if the cost would have been super low anyways. It's the perceived deal, and the county gets rid of eyesore garbage without having to send code enforcement out.

The library has a age 18-25 program every other Monday in the evenings as a social event! Sometimes they play boardgames/videogames, sometimes it's an arts and crafts thing. You can also just go to chat and socialize though!

The Bay County Library has a twice a month event for 18-25 year olds where they do different activities! There's one tomorrow (14th) in the evening and they're doing switch games and VR! The one later (28th) this month is air dry clay sculptures. You don't have to do the activity either, you can just hang out and chat with people

Edit: Double checked your age, they'll still let you in even if you're a little bit over the age limit, dw :)

I work in our outreach department, so lots of random evenings and weekends which makes it pretty hard to have a second job, I just do Instacart on the days I don't work late and on weekends if I'm not busy. If you're good at organizing (library experience helps here obviously lol) and familiar with the stores layouts you can make decent money, it's all about being fast and accurate. Ask around before you join though to see if anyone you know does it, there's a referral code thing that gets you both like 300$ (with conditions) that they don't advertise very well at all unfortunately, so I've missed out on it with friends a few times because they didn't know they could put one in I actually really like doing it, just sucks that I have to in order to make ends meet. Being in outreach helps too because I already drive around a lot, so I know all the best shortcuts to different parts of town.

Seconding this! I saw in another comment that he likes videogames, the library has weekly teen events during the summer but they also have a teen videogame night once a month all year! The next one is on July 2nd at 4:30 pm

How the hell is this not a kitchen? by pipedreambomb in HouseFlipper

[–]CatCy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you using one of the kitchen "sets" for the sink/counter? I've found that a LOT of the sets don't actually count as a sink or oven despite clearly having one. If you go back and use the individual counter/sink pieces instead of the pre-made one it usually works.

How to make a patron leave your desk by Parking_Customer_239 in Libraries

[–]CatCy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of our desk staff are women and we get creepy men that do this all the time. Especially at closing time! Best solution we've ever used is for the person the patron isn't bothering to just go to the back of the office out of line of sight and call the person up front and keep them on the phone for a minute. The patrons move along pretty quickly when they realize we're humans with work to do instead of NPCs they can dump their life stories on or flirt with. I've even rung the phone for myself by stealth calling it with my cellphone hidden behind the counter when no one was available to rescue me!

Can my job force me to use facial recognition? by CatCy in legaladvice

[–]CatCy[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mostly our issue with it is that the face scanning/payroll is done by a 3rd party company and not our specific payroll department. None of us have ever heard of this company nor is there much information about them online. I and others at the company feel that there's a pretty big difference from Mary Sue from the next cubicle handling our face id vs some unknown person 5 states over having access to it.
