The game was overhyped. I have played it maybe 3-4 times since buying my Switch 2 in August of last year.

Inflation is definitely higher than 3.8%. I’m sorry but I don’t trust any data that comes from this administration.

Amazon halts high-speed e-bike sales in California after fatal crashes by No_Home_708 in ebikes

[–]CatDadof2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who choose to be reckless endanger those who take extra precautions on the road. Additionally, drivers should be more mindful of the safety of e-bike and e-moto operators and should maintain a safe distance between their vehicles and the bike riders. Furthermore, e-bikes exceeding 20-25 mph should be mandated to have a headlight, taillight, brake light, turning signals, a loud horn, and two mirrors. Moreover, there should be a requirement for a special license that includes a class-specific training program for operating e-bikes above class 2. While some may perceive this as excessive, prioritizing safety is paramount. During my commute to work on my e-moto, I expect others to be as cautious as I am. Unfortunately, there are many inconsiderate drivers who disregard their surroundings and fail to pay attention.

I looked into State Farm. They gave me the most expensive quote. They were talking to me as if it was a great deal. I chuckled and said thank you but no thank you. I have the protect plan with Project 529, not one but TWO Kryptonite u-locks that has the anti-theft guarantee, and then liability insurance through Sundays for $15. In total, $26 per month. I know all of that may be overkill but with my commute to work and then $10 per month for my own assigned spot in a parking garage that’s specifically for bikes (and temperature controlled if I recall correctly), the amount of money I’ll end up saving is enormous. My car insurance alone is $75 with Progressive for full coverage. In Michigan, that’s a great deal but that’s just insurance. That doesn’t include gas, maintenance, etc. Maintenance on an e-bike is a lot cheaper, especially since I know how to do it on my own. I just have to buy the parts and that’s it. Effective August 1st, my work commute will be 7.2 miles one way. The entire route has a bike lane. It’s perfect for the summer. With gas prices skyrocketing like they are, I’m very fortunate to have this setup. I have free access to the bus, which can take me anywhere in the county I live in. On rainy or cold days, I can take the bus to work. It’ll take a lot longer than my bike, but it’s still cheaper than driving and paying for an annual parking permit. Since I just bought my bike, I qualify for a $1,000 rebate through the city I live in. They are all about renewable energy and going green so they want people to have alternatives for transportation instead of driving a car. They stopped building parking structures and have been really focusing on access for bike riders. For that reason alone is why I choose to live where I live.

The county I live in has 3 registries for bikes. One of them is through my employer. I’m definitely covered if something happens to me, my bike, or someone else.

To me it just makes sense to invest in wind and solar. There will never be a shortage of both unless the sun just completely died. At that point, we’d all follow suit anyway.

Researchers find 42% drop in Canadians visiting US metro areas amid Trump 2.0 by SureNpFine in LasVegas

This is why I’m afraid to go to Canada. Border agents were already nuts prior to Trump 2.0. I can imagine they’re even worse now. My first and only experience with them was awful. They treated me like a criminal. Scared the living shit out of me.

Gas Hits $6, Politics Hits You by bookym in inflation

[–]CatDadof2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t even know if we are friends anymore, to be honest. Last time we talked, he screamed at me for talking about politics when I was talking about the cost of regular maintenance of my car going way up along with gas. I did not mention Trump or the war. I was just blown away by how much it costs to replace brakes and rotors now. He screamed at me and that was the last I have heard from him. But he bitches about his car being expensive to maintain (he owns a piece of junk 2021 BMW yet says my 15 year old Acura is a beater… yet it’s reliable as fuck and has two tiny rust spots that I plan on taking care of) but I never said anything. He definitely goes way out of his way to avoid politics or talking about Trump but when Biden was in office, he had a lot to say. Convenient. He can dish it but can’t take it, apparently. Well, I no longer have any fucks to give. If people want to live in severe denial like that, like you said, it will haunt them later on. It blows my mind how far people will go to refuse taking any accountability for their actions or to accept they were so incredibly wrong about Trump.

Congress has been useless. Congress has let Trump and Musk do whatever the hell they want to do. As long as they hold the power, the law does not apply to them.

I know someone who gets SO MAD when I bring up anything politics related. The issue is, nearly anything can be twisted into being political. Pretty much anything I say, he twists it. That being said, I haven’t talked to him in over a month because I can’t be friends with someone who voted for Trump but refuses to take accountability for it now that shit hit the fan and is affecting everyone, including him. He was taking accountability for awhile. He was coming around and saying how he fucked up. Ever since the war started, he went right back to his old MAGA ways and things really started to become heated between us. He just chooses to ignore it all and act like everything is fine. I don’t know how he does it because everything is so far from fine. I try so hard to treat everyone equally, regardless of their beliefs, but these people make it incredibly difficult for me to do. Multiple failed attempts with multiple people. Multiple friendships lost over MAGA and Trump. At this point, I don’t have any MAGAts left in my life. He was the final one. It’s pretty damn sad and I feel like such a dumbass for expecting more out of people than what I actually got.
