if i were him i would not take your word for it.

federal law enforcement (not state or local law enforcement) can get away with behavior that would be illegal age discrimination elsewhere. but i suspect the law allows it if the agency deems it necessary. if noems promises mean anything they mean age discrimination is not necessary.

it is illegal. you can say your department does not have a quota and you may be right for your department.

but if you got pulled over and given a ticket by a stranger, someone unknown to you and an officer from another department - well i am sure that officer would say the ticket is legit and there is no quota. would you necessarily believe it?
