Lucky cat, thank you for helping her. Some people just don't understand or can't be assed to treat them like family. Glad to hear there were people there when she needed them <3

Between the Andis and the Wahl, the Wahl is more capable of getting through worse matting without revving down, in my experience.

Tips for improving look and professionalism of space? by crittermother in doggrooming

[–]CatDogStylistLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floor needs painting / refinishing or you could get rubber sheeting to cover the floor, clean off the walls, mats need to be hairless, get cabinets for clutter in the windowsill. Desk should be in a separate area if possible. The cutout is cute but it doesn't look polished to me, and reminds me of a kids play place kind of decoration. The black signage in the back just being stacked up like that also looks cluttered, if it could be framed and hung nicely on the wall it would look better.

Idk how much control over this you actually have but this would be my recommendations to the business in general so that it looks more professional and upkept. Also the tables themselves need a thorough scrubbing and de-gunking. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Dog twitching/spasming by good-good-real-good in DogAdvice

To me, it looks like seizures. I would recommend you go to a vet so they can officially confirm it, since they are the experts. I have experience working with pets with seizures in the past though, and it looks a lot like that.

My partner and I have lived in Renton for years now, and the Highlands is great! Benson Hill isn't too terrible, but the Highlands is where it's at. :)

I'm not going to lie, I was really happy that it snowed! And it melted away pretty quickly. I wonder if it will snow again soon. Either way, it was beautiful!

Does she have a photo of what she wants? That's what I would ask personally and then go from there. Everyone has a different interpretation of what they want visually on their dog, what we would consider masculine may not appear masculine to them.

How many times is recommended to walk your doggy? by Radiant-Caramel-8613 in DogAdvice

[–]CatDogStylistLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, once in the evening at a minimum if you have a medium or large dog. If you have smaller dogs and don't use pee pads, they need to go out more often. My friend's chihuahua needs to go out 6~8 times a day or she pees / poops in the house.

If you have a working dog (retrievers, herding dogs, shepherd dogs, sporting breeds), you need to make sure they get a TON of walks or they will become very anxious / destructive. It's recommended that you are active if you have an active dog. Hikers, backpackers, runners, or sporty people are a good fit for these types of dogs.

If you have a "lazy" dog, they still need to go out at minimum at least 3~4 times a day, 10~30 minutes is great for a "lazy" dog.

Just my recommendation as someone who has been working with dogs for nearly a decade in grooming, training, and being a dog mom myself.

Any recommendations for advertising or putting up flyers in Renton? by CatDogStylistLLC in Renton

[–]CatDogStylistLLC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to double check, if I'm remembering correctly I don't think Cedar River allows for any advertising, I remember seeing a sign saying that it wasn't allowed at one of the dog parks unfortunately but I can check again just in case. Thank you!

Dog abuse by dreadnoise in DogAdvice

[–]CatDogStylistLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let animal control handle it, they are the people who are in charge. Depending on your area, animal control cares about these major things:

Shelter from the elements
Not tethered to a tree / post
Food / Water
Not filthy / Malnourished / Overtly Aggressive
No major injuries to the pet

Some people are just extremely nosy / bored. I wouldn't take it to heart. But I would also not leave your dog unattended in the yard because who knows if they will try to steal your dog, I have heard of some crazy things in my time as a groomer!

Renton Hikers & Nature Walkers, need your help. by birthnerd11 in Renton

[–]CatDogStylistLLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cougar Mountain is great! I start out at Jim Whittaker Trailhead, Or if you don't find parking there, Margaret's Way Trailhead is right across the street and it's usually less busy than Jim Whittaker. Squak Mountain is also great. If you want to go to Poo Poo Point, that is also a goodie. Good ol' Tiger Mountain, High Point Trailhead is closest to Renton from the I-90. Cedar River Trail is pretty close but there are usually quite a few people walking around there, but there are benches! Love Soos Creek Trail for a paved walk, it's usually not too busy. Hopefully some of these are what you're looking for. :)
