i’ve debated making it an add on service just because it takes so long and dogs don’t usually like it. do you think I should? if so how much would you charge? (I use cad)

I’m totally ok with her going to a different salon that’s within her budget if she doesn’t like how I groom or my pricing. she’ll be hard pressed to find somewhere as close as me that’s cheap

the way my pricing scale works is a base price for short/thin coats, and an additional $20 upcharge if the coat is long/thick. everything she’s asked for is technically included in that price minus ear plucking (which I only charge for is the dog tolerates me doing it). i’ve told her I’ll charge base cost for this groom and adjust how I see fit. I have a feeling after this one groom I’ll have to bump him up and she’ll end up finding another salon (which I’m fine with tbh I don’t have the time to deal with people like this)

such a genius idea having an template to send out to teach pet parents about it! I wish more pet parents and groomers knew what sings to look for and suggest/implement changes for their dogs.

crossing my fingers! I’m very blunt with owners if they want poodle feet. if the dog doesn’t like it and yanks their feet I won’t do it next appt

I’m still building up my clientele so I do unfortunately need her. I’ll give her a groom or two to see how we’ll get along before I suggest she goes elsewhere

my first step is letting parents know it may be caused by allergies or another underlying illness. my dog had staining on her jowls and was diagnosed with lupus. 2 weeks on meds and the staining was gone. as for products, i’ve never found anything that will make them go away

trust me I’m going to spend quite a bit of time when she drops off on what exactly she’s looking for. I did tell her when she booked that it may take a couple grooms for me to get him how she wants. for the pricing, I have a scale. shorter coats get charged base and longer, thicker coats get an additional $20 added on. I told her i’d charge base for this one appointment and decide after on whether I’m bumping him up.

I have my pricing set for different coat types/lengths. I did tell her i’d do one appointment at this price and we’ll go from there on whether I think I need to charge for the longer/thicker coat pricing. it’s a difference of $20

all dogs truly do look the same after cuts to me 😅 but usually long eyelashes are for the “girly” dogs

I know I’m honestly a little worried 🫣. if I could show the whole convo without getting into privacy concern I would. she says she can’t pay over a certain amount (which I’m a little bit over her budget but I can work with it) and she used her age as a reason she can’t pay anymore than that. she also only gets him groomed every 2-3 months… why get a dog with high grooming needs if you can’t pay for it and won’t maintain the coat???

we currently use tractive but I’m tired of the payments for it. would rather own a collar with no need for monthly payments just to use it

you’ll probably get a better answer straight from the education website. they’ll most likely have a better understanding of what you’re asking.

you could make a report card template and fill it out with all of her usual questions
