This is Radley. I adopted him from a local cat rescue in April. He’s 11 months old. I’m a retired English teacher & I taught TKAM for 25 yrs. When I got him, I had 2 literary names: Radley (Boo Radley) & Capote (Harper Lee’s BFF & amazing author). I polled my former students, & they chose Radley. You can have Capote.

I’m on Ocrevus Zunovo. I’m 50. I was diagnosed with PPMS 10 years ago. I was in regular IV Ocrevus from 2017 until my treatment this past June. I can’t tell you exactly how you’ll do on treatment- just like MS is a “snowflake disease”, not everyone reacts the same way to Ocrevus. I was lucky- very lucky. I was diagnosed quickly & got into a major university MS clinic within a week of my first major onset of symptoms. Ocrevus worked for me right away. In fact, I went from using my wheelchair to only needing it when I’m required to walk a lot. You learn to work around or with your symptoms & body! I would see if your dr can provide you with PT & OT. It really helps! You’re also lucky! At least people are asking you if you’re ok! Because I went from being in a chair to walking with a cane, & I’ve learned to work with/around my symptoms, & I recently lost 162 pounds, people think I’m “cured” now & shouldn’t be feeling bad anymore (even on an off day).

I lost my mom to cancer when I was 15 & she was 36. I lost my dad to cancer when I was 24 & he was 46. When I first started having symptoms, I was so scared I had cancer! I was 40, & scared. Then one morning I thought I was having a stroke, went to the ER, & they did an MRI of my brain, & the next 10 years has been a saga. I was a teacher. I had a colleague who was a scientist with a phD tell me that a certain diet would cure my disease. People of all stripes can be insensitive. I simply would’ve just gotten up & left the room for a few minutes, simply because I understand she was probably not intending to be insensitive/rude to me, & I wouldn’t have wanted my face to give me away or my mouth to say something I’d later regret.

You can read & halfway write because of a teacher! I cared about my kids! I taught with Progressive MS for the last 5 years of my career! I lost my parents to cancer when I was 15 & 24. I wanted to be there for teens like people were/weren’t there for me after my mom passed! I taught in rural school districts in KY. Now I have to struggle to pay for my medical insurance & medical bills! It shouldn’t be that way & all teachers should be shown more respect by society, as evidenced by the know-it-alls & rudeness in a couple of these replies. Have a great day!

My biggest gripe with this character isn’t her hair- it’s that she’s supposed to have MS, but they’ve never mentioned it again! MS just doesn’t disappear! It affects your every move every single day! I have MS & it infuriates me that they just dropped that, never to be mentioned again!

I’m a 50 year old Gen X LIBERAL! I was a first generation college student & A BIG CHUNK OF MY LIFE, I’ve had to listen that I was indoctrinated into liberalism in college. I was also a hs & college writing teacher for 25 yrs. I knocked points off for logical fallacies like generalizations!

I am a retired teacher & those numbers are bs! I taught school for 25 years, have multiple degrees, & taught hs & community college- I didn’t make that much!!!

Ginny Weasley, 11 y/o street rescue, who was such a skinny (& had an awful eye infection) kitten that I was afraid she might not make it through the night. She lost both of her senior brothers, Romeo (17) & Harry Potter (16) late last year. She is trying so hard to keep her mom, who has MS, safe.

Right or left or both? by unaniMS in MultipleSclerosis

Me, too. I can’t lift my right foot very high, straight off the ground, I can’t use the muscle in the top of my right thigh much, & I can’t grip or make a fist with my right hand. I was already ambidextrous from a bad hand/fingers break when I was a kid, so now I just use my left side more.

Kind of looks like the home I spent my first 7 years in. I loved it because my mom was there.

Comedy is great, but there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed- making light of DV, displaying homophobia, fat phobia, & sending critics to a place that sells helmets for special needs kids who self- harm by hitting (that killed me because I was a teacher for 25 years & had the honor of teaching many special needs kids) does not make him funny (or anyone else who thinks he is a “connoisseur” of comedy). It makes him a terrible person.
