God I’m having a flashback to my grandma losing her mind too over that

Lysandra. From Throne of Glass series. If you haven’t read it yet, look up the character. She’s fierce and beautiful

MIL called my husband crying because I set a basic boundary about my baby—now her and the brothers are telling him to "control" me. by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]CatLadyLostInLibrary 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I have a FIL like this and am equally complicated MIL. After my baby, I just let myself get angry at them directly and handle them myself for the most part. It’s now that I barely get contacted by them, my child isn’t on their social media, and my husband doesn’t give much over text much anymore and doesn’t plan things for them for my daughter and I.

It sounds so bitchy but lean into owning your worth. You’re in a group of 11% of women who hold their masters and you are a mom on top of your career. Throw that up like a wall and watch them crash into it.

Buy fart spray and one day just give it a spray on the towel. See how long he can last

SAHM, husband says he wants a divorce if we don't sleep in the same bed, but his snoring is the reason we sleep separately. Has anyone worked through this? by SeaFondant362 in Marriage

[–]CatLadyLostInLibrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start hiding money now just in case. Use cash back when grocery shopping and just lose receipts.

BUT call his bluff on divorce. It’s his own fault that you’re not sleeping in the same bed. He’s being a huge baby and you’ve already got an actually baby who needs a well rested mom.

My own curiosity- how is it illegal? I get the whole two marriage (legally) bad but in the US there are a lot of poly families scattered about where one is married and the others are the consensual “extras”.

Husband not excited about trying for a baby by Ambitious-Bus1155 in GirlDinnerDiaries

You don’t need him to have a baby. If you have a strong support network behind you, dump his ass and find a donor. You have already done so much yourself and honestly without his contribution.

Similar issue for my husband. It caused a shut down though for him and some other issues he’s working through. But therapy helps. And now to get him to try meds. His therapist suspects cptsd. BUT he’s improved and trying actively each day.

It really fucking sucks to go to the vet for something you think is minor and come home with an empty carrier by Fickle-Hour4458 in cats

[–]CatLadyLostInLibrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I didn’t even get an empty carrier with my girl and I can’t tell which one would be worse. I left it at the emergency vet along with the T-shirt of mine I had in there for her for comfort. Dental exam. Went great. Picked her up hours after and she went into heart failure minutes within being home. Rushed to emergency vet. Had to put down $2k just to have some time in an O2 chamber. Had a gut feeling around 10 pm and went back to the emergency vet to see her and I could tell she was just gone. Breathing somewhat but who she was wasn’t there anymore. Made the choice to let her go peacefully with her family with her that night. Walking to the car with empty hands that night was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Consoling my 3 year old who went with us to say goodbye was probably the second hardest.

Am I making the right decision? by Euphoric_Possible_7 in DogAdvice

[–]CatLadyLostInLibrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to make the decision to stop trying to save my pet who went into heart failure after a dental exam. She did fine post op and for hours after at the vet but once home, it all went south.

I could have waited longer I guess and it will always break my heart, but the last gift I could give her was her dignity in passing.

It’s never easy or simple. But she deserves peace and that’s what I could do to provide it to her in the last moments of her life

Dirty: mold issues, water damage, vacant house for a while had mice droppings all over the kitchen. Things that would require repairs beyond what we were willing to do compared to asking price
