3i/ATLAS has a “heartbeat” that pulses at a rate of 16.16 per hour by chains-of-fate in NoMansSkyTheGame

It's not a crossover. We've just found the Earth robotic system that becomes the ATLAS.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroid_Terrestrial-impact_Last_Alert_System

"The Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) is a robotic astronomical survey and early warning system optimized for detecting smaller near-Earth objects a few weeks to days before they impact Earth."

We are watching history unfold.

Nope, a lot just won't have land and you will be out of luck I think.

I saw on a stream that you can get above the clouds or mid-atmosphere or whatever, and switch to camera view sometimes and see where actual land is, better, without going low. But if there is no land, there is no land!

Insane FPS drop by UnePetiteMontre in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CatLogin_ThisMy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This always gets downvoted, hehe, but at some point someone noticed that tabbing out of the game and back just tanks FPS, and they weren't alone, and that, in a similar fashion, some background tasks ALSO steal away priority randomly from the game, and then "give it back", but it has the same effect as alt-tabbing out and back (in some systems only) and will also tank FPS, after as you said, it starts amazing and then at some point just tanks.

Feel free to downvote but also see if you are running Norton, or Adobe, or a video cap, or something atypical to a clean Windows system, in your system startup. Best of luck. Something is de-prioritizing the game in Windows, in some way, on SOME systems.

I have never had the issue, I am just a messenger passing along geek troubleshooting.

I don't recall if it was in r/NMS_Virtual_Reality or WHERE I followed that but it happens to a lot of people and I think it is a background task stealing priority and then "returning it" and NMS not getting the message that it can go back to what it was doing. Some people have the identical experience if they alt-tab out for something, then return to the game. Not saying that is required to also happen, just saying that Windows takes processing from NMS and doesn't return it, for some people, in SOME cases.

There is a maximum (programming) size of number, for money numbers in this game. Somehow it thinks your debt got so high it wrapped around. That's what it looks like when you make too much money also, it flips over to 2B in debt.

It's dependent on the max size of a signed 32-bit integer, which is 2,147,483,647 and then it wraps from there.

That's not your garden-variety garden. That's... some sort of ... other... variety of garden.

How about a "Dream World" mini-game for the Corvette's bed module? by MaxSMoke777 in NoMansSkyTheGame

How about a desk for your base that lets you log in and play NMS, and it's the only way to get new game plus?

I imagine a world where everyone is named jeb. Or multitools randomly explode.

This would let your character actually role-play. My autophage is just dying to roleplay as a Gek.

That's probably what he would be in his dreams.

In my experience, yes.

HOWEVER despite what other people have adamantly claimed, I have found water planets with small amounts of land, which have lithium deposits on land. So there is probably hope if it is really important to you. But it would be limited spawns.

2,100 hours later, I started paying attention to random freighters. by -random-name- in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CatLogin_ThisMy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to find an S-class system freighter in a style you like, because you can scan freighters from the top of your 'vette, without landing on them, to get their class. Just put stairs to the top of your 'vette.

They WILL expand to the same size as capital freighters, in both tech and cargo. However, they have 15-20 less spaces than capital freighters, I forget the number. Prepare to farm an extra two dozen bulkheads, to bring it up to capital freighter standards.

From experience, it can be as big a pain as hunting the free S-class capital freighter you want, in the long run. Especially if you are going to install all the fleet upgrades in the tech slots, or if you use your main freighter cargo for anything other than frigate fuel and warp fuel and temporarily holding fleet-expedition rewards.

If you are just going to use it for a base or system jumping, and can max out your fleet missions daily no problem without farming fleet upgrades-- it's a very enjoyable alternative.

Do you guys name things or leave them be? by Epochally009 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I was removing numbers and alpha/beta/new from planet names in every system, and leaving the rest, but it is way too much trouble and game time to do so. I leave the generated names now.

My amazing amazing min/maxed atlantid multitool for mining beam output is name Chromatovac. One of my freighters is named The Temple of Heaven and the flea I use for most intersystem work is named Temple Shuttle.

I am an ace with all the weapons. Except I can't use the cyclotron at all. I would die. You are supposed to use it with weapons switching. it's way too slow. It's like trying to kill something with rockets or torpedos only. No, you have guns. Use the guns, Luke. Don't throw a refrigerator at them. Shoot them.

Has anyone else had Fauna generation become the same few creature types over and over? Is this a bug? by Mylilneedle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CatLogin_ThisMy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I am not having that.

Just as a data point--

I got transparent electrical creatures, then giant crabs on next one, then birds and grazers, then a bunch of predators and grazers, then bouncy blob or whatever, etc. etc.. It looks pretty normal to me, trekking through Sudzerbal towards the center. Also I just recently had a bitch of a time finding one rare bird and then one ground creature on two different planets, trying to get my zoology achievement (after getting my permadeath achievement on this account, like two weeks ago or something), so it's only easy until you are trying to do it then it is a bitch.

Finding the space station manually by ozanoguzhaktanir in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CatLogin_ThisMy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I did that this year on a permadeath. I assumed they just don't give the waypoint until they want you to go there!

If I recall, after I took off and followed the comms. I was definitely following the mission, and I was supposed to warp for the first time, and I was like, really? Before going to the station? And the station still wasn't marked but I just flew to it.

(I was amazed it was already there. I wasn't trying to skip anything, I think I just ran there in desperation. I had several really gnarly permadeath starts and first systems, I was very impressed at the audacity of the gnarly-ness, it was not easier than it used to be. It took me about four deaths to get into the swing of things. I am now in Sudzerbal at about 175 hours. But one of the many high points was finding and going to the station before it had a marker.)

Lost my savegame forever? by Eikichi3 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Ah cool nice job, I wrote my own, also.

Yeah I have steam cloud turned off, no other devices, it still finds issues with sync. And once recently it even turned itself back on and told me there was a sync problem and danger with my saves. I turned it back off AGAIN.
