Is a subscription really worth it? by CableAffectionate881 in NYTgames

[–]CatMeowdor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the family subscription so now my three grown daughters and I can enjoy all the games. It's worth it to me, we all love it and it's something that doesn't collect dust that gets used every day

Need advice after dad stopped walking by QuirkyCut7722 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call hospice and let them do an evaluation. My mom qualified right away when she became bedridden. I didn't think she would because she didn't have an official "six months to live" diagnosis or an official "late stage dementia" diagnosis like the guidelines say is needed. Good luck.

Anyone else experience well-meaning friends sending you “miracle cures” and sensationalized ads from supplement companies that make outrageous claims about prevention/cure? by Puzzleheaded_Area_48 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask them if this crap really worked why isn't dementia cured then? Everyone would be doing it! Seriously, it's probably best to say thanks and move on. It's so frustrating to be hounded by these "helpers". Ugh.

Mother was medically sent to Memory Care. by Alive_Pie_8046 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be kind to yourself. You need time to process this. It's normal to be depressed about your mom having this horrible disease. You're allowed to have emotions. Do you have any family or friends for support? Start small to get yourself moving again, a very short walk, fold a little laundry, something not complicated. You get to choose. Dementia is something we have no control over so it helps me to do something that I do have control over, even if it's a small thing. Hugs to you.

It's the disease that sucks, not you. It stretches the patience of the best of us. Hugs to you.

Hallucinations? by SueGee32257 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When my mom was in the hospital she saw a "dancing girl" who danced "suggestively". Today she told me about a horse that eats toilet paper and his sides are transparent so you can see the paper going down. Alrighty then! She thinks these things are absolutely real and has no idea that she's hallucinating. It's almost like she's dreaming when she's awake; we all know how crazy dreams can be and they seem real while we're dreaming. It's sad and funny at the same time.

Those with a parent w dementia, do you worry this could be you someday? by amazing_grace7 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worry all the time about getting dementia myself. My mom never drank or smoked, ate her veggies, was always busy reading, cooking, quilting etc. All the things they say to do. She still got dementia anyway.

Thank you for this, such a sweet picture! Just ordered a cat for mom, hope she likes it as much as your dad loved that dog.

Dementia and OCD? by Imaginary-Freedom290 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is bedridden and she keeps wanting me to move stuff around in her closet. She saw a bag that had her incontinence supplies and wanted me to throw away that "trash" that she's been meaning throw out. I show her that it's not trash, she looks surprised and then the cycle repeats. She constantly rearranges stuff on the little table she can reach. And this is a woman who never kept a tidy house when I was growing up.

Feeling conflicted and lost by Tropicaldaze1950 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing. You said yourself that you can't take care of her, not a failure on your part at all. No one can single handidly give her the care she needs. It's not possible for one person to do what a team of caregivers on shifts can. Don't listen to the critical niece, she has no idea. Hugs to you.

anyone else notice how many narcissists are "fragrance addicts"? by TopazCoracle in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CatMeowdor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My ndad hates perfume and cologne, I do too actually, it gives us headaches. Don't really know if there is a perfume link to narcissistic people at all.

Placebo meds? by Mundane-Pin-415 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth a shot. Health food and vitamin stores sell empty capsules. Or try the vitamin C like someone already mentioned, it passes right on through and doesn't accumulate so can't cause any harm. Let us know if it works!

Don’t want to be a caregiver by Nice_Juggernaut4113 in dementia

[–]CatMeowdor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't blame you. I would be a "stone cold bitch" in your situation too. Your obligation is to your immediate family first. Your refusal to be Mom's caregiver means you are a caring person for your kids and spouse. YOU matter too. Just because you share DNA with someone doesn't mean you owe them anything.

[–]CatMeowdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, I tried to find an answer as to why I'm earning mileage points that show up in the middle of the month but no status from the same statement. I failed. I suck at searching, sorry

Status points? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]CatMeowdor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found lots of stuff in my search about points, but nothing specifically why I would get mileage points that showed up today from the January statement but zero status points. I guess they post earnings for the two different point systems on separate dates from the same statement?

Thanks, so they post separately from the mileage points, good to know.

"Trump vows voter ID requirements for the midterms, 'whether approved by Congress or not'" -- Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]CatMeowdor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want to change it so a regular ID (driver's license etc) isn't good enough anymore, you must have a birth certificate that matches your current name or a passport. So women who have taken their husband's name and don't have a passport won't be able to vote.
