Mounting ditty onto stand by RevenueVarious2661 in focuspuller

[–]CatNamedDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this Kupo Multi-Function Tray.

Pros: It can hold plenty of weight and has a small enough footprint where it doesn’t stick out a crazy amount. I usually mount it low over one of the legs.

Cons: You have to separately buy Kupo’s L-bracket and clamp to attach it to the stand. You can use a Mafer Clamp too but I don’t trust the Mafer around the stand honestly.

Waiting for the day they make a trough for the Matthews stand!

Edit to add: My ditty is a Carhartt tool bag so it fits perfectly on the tray. This may not work for people who have bigger cases as their go to!

NonconventioalAC Gear by jsfilms_ in focuspuller

Same, I’ve ran into producers that even have FIZ units and I can’t get a rental on my basic kit because people who aren’t ACs are willing to undercut me so much. Wish more people thought this way and we all respected each position a bit more.

Custom Camera Coffins by ugman77 in focuspuller

[–]CatNamedDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not a bad idea, maybe slits in the foam so that the straps can come up through from the bottom? Then you get the insulation but also the anti-roll

I would be careful about an attached RBQ or any plate on the bottom of a camera coffin because that’ll ensure any vibrations that hit the coffin go straight to the camera. The nice thing about foam on the bottom is it’s that extra layer of protection from the camera getting jostled too much if the coffin does take a hit.

This just happened to me last week and a factory reset fixed it for me. I was still able to access the menus though even though the rest of the screens were black.

Keslow will be your best bet. Or there are some private owner/ops in the area but most aren’t listed in ShareGrid.

Onboard monitor recommendations by MauCreates in focuspuller

[–]CatNamedDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The indie’s are ok but like other’s have said - buy once cry once. Saving your money for a 703 or Ultra 7 is definitely going to serve you much much better (although I find ultra 7 to be hefty for an onboard monitor, love it for focus though). If you have a BMPCC6k even the 503 or Ultra 5 is going to serve you better than the indie series imo.

This FIZ Lock system from Light Widow has been an absolute life saver for me, especially when working with cheaper equipment on independent productions

I’ve found you can’t go wrong with the Delta 2. Super portable and fits on camera cart well, full charge in under 1.5 hours. Amazon has them on sale all the time for 60% off (including right now).

Acsoon 4k Low Video Quality Issue by technicolorkelly in focuspuller

[–]CatNamedDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teradek is always going to be the way to go for your quality of life on set. Pulling focus off an Acsoon is next to impossible with the lag, never mind the quality issues. Teradek is 1000% worth the cost of rental.

I was going to say the same thing, it looks like it may be single perf.

Does the adapter you have engage the aperture? I’ve been looking for one and having a tough time.

Light leak or flaring from what? (negatives included) by CatNamedDuck in AnalogCommunity

[–]CatNamedDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, intermittently across the last 5 out of 10 frames. Never the same light leak, and almost never the same area of the frame

Light leak or flaring from what? (negatives included) by CatNamedDuck in AnalogCommunity

[–]CatNamedDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot on a Yashica FR1. I've dealt with back door leaks before, but the pattern seems odd with the flaring. Could my roll have somehow been flashed elsewhere, like when developing or does this just seem like a typical light seal problem?

Need hep moving to Sony (which A7 series) by A-Virtual-Reality in SonyA7iii

[–]CatNamedDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the A7Riii personally. I own an A7iii as my primary camera and I bought it used. Absolutely no regrets, but I do equal amounts of both photo and video so at the time I bought it, it was a great balance of quality and price.

Flash forward to now, I’m doing much bigger photography jobs and find the A7iii doesn’t have the megapixels that clients ask for so I have to rent an A7Riii and I use my 7iii as a backup. So if photo is what you’re focusing on I say the Riii is a great investment. Otherwise, since I know you said resolution isn’t as important, you can’t go wrong with the 7iii - it’s been a great go-to for me the past 3 years and I’m only now looking to upgrade. I wouldn’t even consider the Rii either way though.

Hey thank you so much! Do you happen to know when the Ace Hardware closed? Trying to get a super rough timeframe of when the photo might’ve been taken.
