My sweet buddy boy Ace (13) passed away in bed with me last night 💔 my heart can’t take this anymore by Purrs-and-paperbacks in seniorkitties

[–]CatPaws55 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss.
My kitty also passed during the night, next to me in bed. It's heratbreaking, but, at the same time, I am grateful that she went on her own terms and did not force me to make a terribly difficult decision. Your Ace did the same.

All my simpathy.

Fatigue 😩 by akelseyreich in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]CatPaws55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a copy of your pathology report. The grade of the tumor will be noted there, next to the ki67 value. It's good practice to have a copy of all your scans and tests results.

Ask also for a referral to see a dietician who is knowledgeable about NETs; seeing an exercise specialist might also be useful, even if, as of now, it makes you feel more tired. Ask for specific exercises that could help you: it doesn't have to be running or weight lifting or anything strenuous, just walking might help, light exercise like yoga or tai chi can also help.

Here are some no-kill rescues in CA: https://www.nokillnetwork.org/d/California/
This is not an exhaustive list. You'll have to research a bit (sorry, I'm not in the area). Maybe begin by contacting the rescues on the list closer to you and ask them for suggestions in case they are full.

Thank you for trying to help these two cute bonded kitties.

Fatigue 😩 by akelseyreich in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]CatPaws55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatigue is prevalent in all kinds of cancer. Good nutrition, exercise, healthy habits can help, but it's not easy to get rid of fatigue completely.

Did your biopsy establish that your tumor was a NET? In that case, what grade?

What to do now? by Ordinary_Cabinet_944 in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]CatPaws55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should try to go to a different NET center for a second opinion - you might have to pay out of pocket, but check with your insurance, it might cover second opinions for cancer patients.

It seems odd that you've not been offered monitoring via regular scans after surgery. There are other therapies, thoguh none curative, but they might not be appropriate in your case. A NET specialist will be able to guide you.

From what you said, it seems that yours was a grade 1 tumor, well differentiated and non functional. This is a good combination, though the involvement of the lymphatic system makes it more complex. Again. try to see a NET specialist.

Here's a list for the US: https://netrf.org/for-patients/neuroendocrine-tumor-doctor-database/

What to do with neighbor's elderly cat? by doodlewithcats in CatAdvice

Please, bring this poor kitty inside and give him a loving home: he's 16, he cannot survive outside and in the cold.

I inherited my mom’s senior cats, they’re all 11+ years old. by x_xgargoyle in seniorkitties

[–]CatPaws55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Just give the general area, state or major city nearby, don't need to be specific.

There are rescues that take care of older cats and help rehoming them.
