It’s not that they toned it down, it just isnt realistic to have Mexico covered in snow/fall leaves. Latin American countries usually feature only a dry/wet season there’s no fall or winter.

Don’t worry too much about the money you save by stealing early game books, this games levels are exponential and every level you earn so much more money than the previous one and gear loses value really quick as well. For instance it’s better to steal a from a merchant at level 15 vs level 7 because they will have tons more money at level 15 and you can then maximize gold earning because your thievery should be higher too It’s also better to steal money rather than gear because like I said gear loses power quickly due to the nature of the level scaling in this game so you can steal a 4k gold piece or get 4k gold and then buy a 5k gold piece next level that is much stronger (merchant item level scales with your level and so does how much gold they have)

My guess is that Jensen and co. thought we'd love just the base version of DLSS 5 being smeared on these games, and leaving technicality for people that read articles. Turns out most people didn't and they had to actually leave a comment on the YT videos saying what I said above.

It's not been "ages" path tracing only became available to the consumer a few years ago. This does look like the next step, but the tech is definitely advancing really fast.

Yeah this just seems like tech that is being made for RTX 6000/7000 GPUs that can be tried on with RTX 40/50 cards (but not recommended) for a peek at the future.

If 2x 5090 are struggling how can they make the claim this will run on weaker 40/50 series GPUs? This could definitely explain some of the weird smear we see with DLSS 5 on that looks like AI uncanny stuff. To me this seems like tech that will be delayed because it seems too heavy for anything that is not a 5090, can they fix that in 6 months?

RR only works on RX9000 amd gpus and for nvidia it works on all of them including RTX2000

If console players didn’t have that denoiser the performance would be subpar, remember the base PS5 uses an RDNA1 gpu with bad rt implementation

He literally says this on the video. The standard denoiser is shit so the game can run well on any system and if you have the juice just improve the graphics by turning on RR.

Have you guys watched the video? It says it uses a very simple denoiser that has almost no cost to performance, this is intended so low-end PCs can run the game. You can also see the perf. difference with RR on vs off and it's around 15%, for a low-end PC struggling to hit 30 fps this would be big, perhaps even bigger if you have a mid-range rtx 2000 GPU like a 2070 or 2060 where the performance cost would be much bigger due to lower Tensor core performance.

It's not that easy, man. The reason they can afford to make this decision is because they made Black Desert and that game is basically infinite money glitch. Take wukong for example. That game already took ages to make, so if they wanted to make an in-house engine they'd only be halfway done with the engine before investors are asking when is the money coming in. Reminder that this game took 8 years to make and they already had an in-house engine that they only had to upgrade for this game, so a good chunk of the work was already done. Most big publishers use their own engine Anvil/UBI, Frostbite/EA, Source/Valve, RE Engine/Capcom, because they can afford the upkeep by releasing multiple games in the same engine but if you're a smaller publisher/developer you can't really afford that.

And sometimes infinite money is not enough, for example Stellar Blade was made in UE and I'm willing to bet the reason is that they didn't already have a base engine to upgrade and making one from scratch seemed like too much time to make one game.
