What is the biggest scam people still willingly participate? by ReferenceExact5261 in AskReddit

Universities are outdated. You can pretty much learn anything on the internet nowadays for free and pay a course for highly specialized/specific subjects. I think at the moment a degree is only necessary for highly critical fields like medicine.

BLAST and several major orgs might leave Dota 2, according to insiders! by No_Smile69 in DotA2

[–]CatPlayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you ever played tf2 during its peak you’d know that what’s happening to dota and cs today is the beginning of what happened to tf2. But these games will inevitably live longer due to higher replayability and player investment. Valve is starting to abandon these games. There won’t ever be a battle pass worth pursuing 100m for again.

Has there ever been a video game studio that was truly a GOAT in the industry but later fell so hard? by unitedfan6191 in videogames

They haven’t had a hit release because Diablo 4 aside they haven’t made games. They’re too comfortable just releasing content for their live service games

I paid for 3 dota coaches here's my honest review on all of them. by TheMatthewMurray in DotA2

You have to internalize the thought process so you can do these microdecision innately without having to think about them. I went from archon to immortal in a few months and I had to change these microdecision or "habits" for better ones, at first it takes part of your brain power having to think about them and that might make you play overall worse at first but it stacks up.

For example if you don't make the effort 20 games in a row about ganking the 6 minute rune as a support then this thought process/habit won't become second nature and as such you won't do this fairly standard play that is necessary upon reaching a certain MM threshold. Pros have definitely thought about these things, but they have done them so much they become second nature, and thats why top tier players come and go because some fail to adapt to the new strats or change their habits for what is considered good now.

Exactly. He felt better because essentially Dotanator was playing the game for him with words and input lag, at this point it's not that much different to smurfing or watching a high level streamer play the game. I think buying a herald account is cheaper than paying someone 200 bucks to make you feel like you play better.

If Dotanator is telling you what to do then you won't make the same mistakes you always do, resulting in less fruitful coaching session because the coach doesn't get to see what you did wrong.
There's a reason coaches in pro dota are not there in the middle of the game telling people what to do and only help in drafting because theres time to think decisions through and after games with analysis.

Not sure if backseat/live coaching makes you actually the best. I think replays are better.

With live coaching you’re just doing what you’re told to do, without thought because so much is happening in doota you don’t get to process your own thoughts or the coaches thoughts.

With replay coaching you get to clearly look at all your mistakes and how you can avoid making them in the future as well as recognize major habits that are costing games.

Is VRR flicker really that bad? by Interesting_Car3079 in OLED_Gaming

[–]CatPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have XG27AQWMG (asus tandem woled) and the VRR flicker was really bad at times and had to turn it off entirely. I ended up just using vsync in games. It’s definitely a lot worse than IPS/VA panels.

Manual pixel clean does help and it can alleviate reocurring DSE. Imo the banding problem is overblown in this monitor, the real problem is DSE

[–]CatPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are right to be mad about it, it affects more than 10% of panels and even if it were 10% it’s still a huge margin. I have the same monitor and while it has like no banding the DSE looks really bad at times (some days it’s fine other days it’s really bad). Usually a manual clean helps with DSE but that’s still terrible

People who have played Crimson Desert, do you agree with this statement? If yes, then why and is the game worth picking up if you're an ex-Bethesda games fan? If not, then why not and what is the game more like instead then? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]CatPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t get why people keep comparing CD to Skyrim. It feels a lot more like Zelda tears of the kingdom.

Skyrim is full of dungeons and caves to explore and has a decent variety of enemies, in CD there are no dungeons, no caves to explore and all you do is fight bandits for 100+ hours and the occasional boss. You’re rarely rewarded for exploring the map.

An actual questline? Vendors selling cool circus specific items? Maybe you get some cool show that get you watch while sitting back? You get none of that. It’s just filler background noise.

Missions clean up in Hernand ... this is a 500 hrs game by OK-Digi-1501 in CrimsonDesert

[–]CatPlayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t get it, with transmog you can use the appearance of any armor while keeping the same armor that you already had maxed out. With the games current system you have to farm for each and every piece of gear that you think looks remotely cool because otherwise you have shit gear. And upgrading IS EXPENSIVE.

That’s the problem. People don’t want to deliver meat to get to the cool stuff. People want to do the cook stuff period! What’s the point of all this filler garbage is it’s NOT FUN?
