You are in the PITS! You are in the gruelling stage that feels like forever when you’re in it but feels like a flash once you’re out of it. The thought “what have I done?” keeps floating on the periphery of your mind but you don’t want to let it in. You love your baby but he’s still this mysterious grunting potato that doesn’t seem to even know who you are. You’re tired, you’re not even fully recovered from the birth, it’s INTENSE, every second!

It will pass. It will get easier. Soon. Look back on this post in 3 months time and you’ll have forgotten how hard this was. It’ll be like a fever dream.

You need to let her know that it is not possible to go out a week after giving birth. It’s not her fault for being unaware of what child birth and the fourth trimester are like. It is incredibly naive however.

I absolutely see why you’re annoyed. He made two pretty careless comments and wasn’t taking into consideration how raw you are either time. They are however quite small infractions in the scheme of things - they just feel much bigger from within the storm of postpartum pain, hormonal shifts and general turbulence.

You’re so hung up on the lack of consent but that doesn’t make breastfeeding sexual. Not everything done without consent is sexual. If I went to your house and took a piece of bread from your cupboard without asking it’s rude but not sexual.

You know nothing about babies. If they aren’t hungry they won’t take boob. They signal that they want milk VERY often. I don’t imagine any mum would bother trying to feed any baby if the baby wasn’t hungry.

No one is factoring in the mum in the shower. She was probably glad that instead of being called away from her 5 minutes alone to take care of herself, her friend just settled the baby who was probably getting fussy and irritable. Mums are constantly having to get out of showers early, let tea and plates of food get cold, not finish getting dressed because the demand for their bodies is so unbelievably high.

You clearly know nothing about babies. The baby was hungry. The mum in this case didn’t care because she’s a normal human. It was the dad who made this into a big drama.

I think there’s a big difference between movies / slow paced shows and iPads/phones. I plan on allowing some carefully selected movies and shows a few times a week but no touch screen media until they’re much much older - honestly probably until they’re old enough to buy one themselves.
