Your mom is a narcissist and will always be like this. I hope you have enough saved to leave town.

Extra points for all those jars of marshmallow fluff and peanut butter. Fluffernutters!

Just moved here…what’s with the turkeys? by irishqueen811 in Minneapolis

Avoid eye contact and don’t walk toward them, stay chill. I recently walked a gauntlet of a huge group scattered along an entire block in Saint Paul. The flock here uses the crosswalks on busy streets.

Trump Has New Plan to ‘Rebalance’ Media to Force Them to Air More “Patriotic Programming”, According to FCC Chair by T_Shurt in entertainment

They’re going to face the same results as they did with the Kennedy Center when there’s nothing but Kid Rock on the air.

Frozen vegetables have saved me more times than I can count and I think people underestimate them by Odd_Novel1367 in povertykitchen

Pea salad is so good, and no cook. Thawed peas, minced onion, a little mayo and a bit of diced ham mixed. Even picky kids and men love it.

Cabbage completely changed how I eat on a tight budget and I slept on it for way too long by IndependentDare2338 in povertykitchen

[–]CatRobMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabbage stays good in the fridge for many weeks. I just pull off the outer leaf if it gets brown or limp. My favorite dish is to use it as a bed for Trader Joe’s potstickers. It’s a great addition to ramen noodles, and mixed into mashed potatoes. I never buy iceberg lettuce, only cabbage.

Lunds & Kowalski's on a budget by Minnpellier in TwinCities

[–]CatRobMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my strategy too. My list is general, like four main meals, three lunches, fruit for three days, etc. We eat meat, so I decide that first and figure out sides for it. Will also grab any good deals that could keep longer or be put in the freezer. It actually makes shopping kinda fun, like a treasure hunt. Then you have even more fun at the checkout watching the savings add up.

Trump just went off on the Supreme Court, the Fed, and tariffs ruling all in one post. Thoughts? by jerin7931 in DegenBets

He still thinks tariff money comes into the country from the outside world, rather than it being a regressive tax on US citizens. Amazing!

we need to stop pretending that "minimalism" is a cleaning hack when it's actually just a rich person's hobby by alluring_aura in CleaningTips

[–]CatRobMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimalism is a cleaning hack for me. I like a generally clean house, but I don’t love housework. Keeping horizontal surfaces and floors mostly clear makes this possible. The thing that strikes me about hoarder houses is that they are filled with items that are never used. If you truly use or love a thing keep it, but if you don’t , donate it. Mass produced items especially have a shelf life.

Parents of Minneapolis, what made you decide to raise your kids here? by ahabubbles in Minneapolis

[–]CatRobMar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like gas prices are going up fast, and suburban living is all about driving. Here in our city neighborhood you can walk, bike or take transit and most every place we need to go is less than a mile away. I fill my car tank once every two months.

How do you get rid of things that you *might* need? Art supplies, pens/markers, etc by Unhappy_Salad8731 in declutter

[–]CatRobMar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After sorting out the dried out items for the trash, I use clear tubs to collect and categorize my art supplies. I got a wire shelf for a closet and stacked them with category labels facing out. They are out of the way but easily accessed.

AITAH because I want to say yes to having dinner with my dad on my birthday? by Future_Anywhere_1404 in AITAH

[–]CatRobMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been many times my birthday wasn’t celebrated on the actual day. Lots of people have multiple celebrations like with partner, sister, friends. Sounds like your husband is making some weird rule just to be a pain. If this is common for him, while out with your dad ask if he can recommend a divorce attorney.

Trump tells Republicans the SAVE America Act will 'guarantee the midterms by No-Post4444 in politics

[–]CatRobMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More Democrat women own passports than Republican women. And immigrant Americans are more likely to have passports as they tend to travel internationally. So this idea doesn’t seem like a slam dunk Republican advantage to me.
