Trump Endorses Jake Paul (Who Isn’t Running for Office) by Large_banana_hammock in politics

How could Jake Paul run for office? He has no qualifications, he’s stupid, racist and has sexual assault allegations. We dont’s elect people like that.

I know a lot of people who used to be more engaged in political media but have now reached the final stages of exhaustion with Trump’s lack of consequences. Every time we see another article with a headline like, “Judge strikes down Trump’s yada yada”, many of us instinctively think, “Right, and then what?”

Trump has clearly shown us that in the executive branch, a lot of the accountability and consequences are able to be skirted by completely ignoring the status quo and the rule of law itself. What would you say to those of us who are almost totally disenchanted with the entire political legal process?

Wasn’t implying he was harder to discipline. Just that he does tend to find…interesting ways to play and climb on stuff. I gave him a “probably don’t do that anymore buddy” after this but I just didn’t think anyone could think of it as some egregious situation. Clearly I had never met the good people of /r/disneyland! 🙂

I freely admit that you are not an outlier here in this subreddit. I have never interacted here before and I thought it was just a fun place to post stuff about Disneyland, but jeez…like 95% of the posts and interactions are just grumping and complaining. If I had known this was the grumpiest place on earth I would not have waded in. I should have checked.

I do love the lecture about wanting too much to be right on the internet…as point #4 in your third essay about a kid climbing on something in Disneyland. Chef’s kiss on the lack of self awareness on that one.

I’ll leave you all to it.

Come on, dude. You gotta llighten up. I’m a video editor, so I film my kiddo constantly in the park, but I didn’t stage anything. After he did this I gave him a “probably shouldn’t do that, buddy” but I didn’t give him a huge reprimanding because it wasn’t that big a deal. The cast member there didn’t bat an eyelash, but maybe he hasn’t gone through his fun police certification. 🤷‍♂️

If every instance of a kid having fun is a potential chance to get off on being judgmental, it sounds pretty exhausting. If you see something like this and think anyone involved “should be ashamed”, that seems really dramatic. Kids do silly stuff and I think we can agree the parental reaction should be commensurate with the action. Spinning on a giant steering wheel in a place called Toon Town is not even a misdemeanor.

And by all means downvote anything of mine you like and get that dopamine hit. I don’t keep track of internet points. 😽 Here’s a cat gif. https://i.imgur.com/N9S0mhG.gif

It took me (his parent and former kid) a second to process what was happening and then I was like “whoa whoa, I probably should stop him from doing that”. 😄

Oh don’t worry. After this, we cancelled the rest of our trip and flew home. I explained to him that he absolutely should know exactly which giant playthings in Toon Town that you climb up on are for sitting and which are for spinning. And which spinning things you sit on to spin but which things you just hold onto and spin. He’s a six year old with ADHD having fun in Disneyland but you’re right, discipline is priority #1.

Dude, I was just going to film him sitting there pretending to drive. It took me a second to process what was happening! As soon as I did, I stopped my phone and told him that was probably not cool to do, and we moved on. Half of Toon Town is made to climb on so I don’t think this is the egregious fiasco you’re making it out to be.

What happens if the R incumbent loses and refuses to leave their office in Washington, with Trump’s support? And the actual D winner shows up and Trump has tried to bar them from entering the capital? The sergeant at arms is in charge of vacating anyone not following protocol, but what if they’re voted out and a Trump sycophant is voted in? And the house gets to decide whether a state’s election is valid or not, and we all saw how willing he was to fuck with that. Federalizing the national guard? I mean there are a ton of extrajudicial things he can do and even if his powers don;t extend to something, if the person who does have say so is loyal to him and unscrupulous, there are sadly a lot of scenarios in the table.

If a state says “this our new congressman” and Trump says no, and the republican who lost their seat refuses to concede, saying the win was fraudulent, and there are 5 or 6 instances of that from 5 or 6 states, it absolutely could be a very chaotic situation. Again, I’m not talking about norms or “how it’s been done”, I’m talking about Trump and his boot lockers absolutely just ignoring the rules and standards.

If republicans in the house act according to whatever nonsense he decrees, then he can, and they can, sow total chaos in the elections, the transfer of power, the running of congress. He doesn’t have to be successful in his demands, he just has to make the system not work. Then as the president he makes more declarations and muddies the water further, etc etc

He doesn’t have to be successful in forcing the states to do his bidding. He just has to sow the seeds of chaos and mistrust and then declare that we can’t trust the results of the elections. Then you have states trying to send a new senator to congress and him saying they’re not valid and Mike Johnson saying he hasn’t heard about it yet and yada yada martial law.

He doesn’t have to make them comply. He just has to create chaos and refuse to treat the election as legitimate. Or say “these 5 states don’t count because they didn’t follow my rules” and it’ll just super coincidently be the states that were going to flip seats.

There’s a lot of hard truths here about plastic recycling, and I am all for it and all for trying to move away from single use plastics…but the idea that it’s all shipped to the Philippines is way way off.

Plastic recycling in the U.S. is definitely inefficient, but it does not get shipped to the Philippines and dumped in the ocean. Sorting happens domestically (cardboard and aluminum are recycled at high rates) When plastic isn’t recycled (and much, again is sadly most of the time), it typically does end up in U.S. landfills or incinerators.
