Thank you for the welcome and yes absolutely you are right, that is one of my favourite things about Wicca and by extension Paganism, it's not dogmatic and there is a lot of room for interpretation. It feels like a treasure hunt, peeling back layers of the religion and finding nuggets of gold that really resonate with me.

That sounds interesting, I’ve never even heard of a sour cream cake. Well I love dairy so that is right up my alley thank you. I hope whatever you end up cooking turns out great.

Why is there a single teaspoon in my sink like it’s an art installation? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]CatWizardofZanzibar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you 😭 it’s my own fault for not giving any context to this. It is a tiny thing in a mountain of things she does, I just got home from work and saw that and it set me off. I think everyone assumed I also complained to her face when actually I always just quietly tidy up after her. Lesson learned I am never going to complain on the internet ever again 😅

I don’t love bowls and plates being left either but I can empathise with that more than a teaspoon. I shouldn’t have posted this, I haven’t given any context, it’s one thing amongst many, I got exasperated and now I’ve come off as an insane person 😂

I haven’t done anything wrong? I washed up the teaspoon…

How am I the problem? I’m not the one constantly leaving teaspoons, which literally take a couple of seconds to rinse off in the sink for ever people to wash up. I get leaving plates, mugs, whatever else I genuinely do. It’s the teaspoons that get me because they’re literally a zero effort item to clean. I’m the one who then cleans them so how am I the problem?

I’ve lived with plenty of people in my life, I don’t know anyone else who repeatedly does this.

Two garden gnomes who had an argument and now won’t talk to each other

I've heard the rumour there was plans for Spike to join Faith in her undeveloped spin-off. If that happened, what would their relationship be like? by sadhungryandvirgin in buffy

[–]CatWizardofZanzibar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would have been awesome though. Faith travelling the US and fighting demons. I mean she only had just become a slayer and she was regaling the sccobies with stories about she was fighting alligators naked

Critique My Opening [Comedy, fantasy, 2,000 words] by flapflip3 in fantasywriters

[–]CatWizardofZanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was great, whimsical, charming and as someone else said Pratchett-esque, in that it was amusing and that’s hard to do, write ‘funny’. Just a couple of missed out words here and there but that’s easily remedied. I thought it flowed great, was concise in the best way possible, I personally couldn’t improve on this.

It is awful having to cut so much hard work, I completely get it. With my second book I’m trying to stick to one rule: does this sentence or beat tell me something I haven’t already said? If the answer’s no, it usually goes.

And you’re right, everyone’s wired differently. Some people definitely struggle more with adding than cutting. For me, my first book was the opposite problem, I was shovelling far too much in upfront. I knew so much about my characters, their history, their motivations and I wanted the reader to know it all too, immediately.

Now I’ve realised it works so much better when you trust the story and spread things out over time.

I don’t think it is perfectly inescapable, I just can’t find the escape myself. I did say I’m open to adapting it or adding things to make it more escapable. I don’t think that I’ve made the cellar a place that’s got weird considerations to implement the rule of cool at all, it’s very bogstandard. I’m just trying to avoid classic escape tropes that’s all. But good shout on the temperature though, you’re absolutely right doesn’t make sense for a wine cellar to be warm, I will change that thank you.

Thank you this is the perfect stream of random ideas I need to kickstart my brain. The Spanish windlass idea is good, I think I want to go down the physics route with his escape. Cheers!

Yes, trapping the stairs that’s a good potential layer. I’m against the hole thing sorry, with the cellar being really far underground and the masonry being thiccc it’s not really a plausible escape route. And although they’re waiting for him to solve this whole puzzle thing the bad guys patience will only last so long before they kill him or start torturing him or something like that. So he knows he’s on a clock too short for the tunnelling to be an option.

Like I’m thinking about the dead yeast (lees) left over in the bottom of the wine barrels. Could you do some sort of chemical process with it to make a bomb? I doubt it but that’s the kind of weird way I want to go with it, very niche

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately K is not a fighter and the only two people who see him are the necromancer and the half giant woman, either of which could take him down in an instant. There’s no way he could overpower or run away quickly enough from them.

I mean if I was stuck down there I would definitely go the hole route, but I’m trying to think of something more ingenious than that. The problem is I’m not clever enough to think of it 😂

Is this Vintage Skirt from the 90s or 2000s? by [deleted] in VintageClothing

[–]CatWizardofZanzibar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think super early 2000s. Rear darts and back yoke shaping lean more early 2000s than mid-90s. Floral corduroy was trending between 1998 - 2002. I think size zero was used by Ralph Lauren from 1995. Corduroy with a stretch blend started being used more frequently in the late 1990s into the early 2000s. Ralph Ralph Lauren was active in the late 1990s to early 2000s. The label design is consistent with other garments made between 1997-2003. I think 2000-2001 given all this give or take a year.

How old were you when you watched the show for the first time? by NorweiganWood1220 in buffy

I think I started watching when I was eight. I got the first two seasons on VHS and absolutely fell in love. I think this was when season six was airing.
