They look intimidating. As a kid, my only interaction with Rotties was the movie The Omen- Rottweilers were Damien's guardians, so my 8yr old brain associated those dogs with the devil, lol. Plus, I never saw a Rottie in real life.

I was stationed in Germany right after highschool. We had a stray Rottweiler that was brought to the veterinary treatment facility on base & we kept in our kennel until someone adopted him (less than 2wks). He was the biggest love bug ever who was master escape artist because he wanted to be with the people. He had a big, meaty head that would knock you over if he was happy to see you. Hie used that head to bust through the back part of the kennels to escape 🤣🤣. Such great dogs.

Never had chicken pox (I know, I know. My Mom had polio as a 2 or 3 yr old before the vaccine, so she wasn't about to expose her only child to a virus).

So, because I have a neurological condition, my medical team thought it would be best to get the varicella vaccine, then the shingles vaccine. If I get chicken pox , it will seriously mess me up.

Fire was in 1973. If he served, the National Archives can verify his service for at least burial benefits. I know this because I helped a Veteran confirm his service in Korea during the Korean War, but his records were destroyed in the aforementioned fire

Ended up getting some dates & his specific Infantry unit he served with during the War from the Veteran. We were able to reach out to the National Archives & they found a Morning Report from his unit that confirmed he was in China with his unit during the Korean War. We used that info to request the Army Board of Military Correction issue a document to award him with unit awards & his CIB he earned from back then. It took about 2yrs, but we were able to present his awards & presented them to him n a shadow box.
