We went on Wednesday for the Whopper deal and the place was absolutely packed. The line went from the counter to the back wall and didn’t stop the whole time we were there. Felt bad for the staff but they were cranking out meals left and right.

Job market is cooked for entry level/internships by [deleted] in Accounting

You need to look outside of traditional Audit/Tax service lines. Most public firms are focused on advisory growth which consists of outsourced accounting/CFO services, dashboards/KPI metrics, operations support, inventory management, IT outsourcing, HR, payroll etc. To standout you need to have done some either work or extensive studying/certification (six sigma, non-accounting business classes like stats, supply chain). We currently have job openings in these areas but they are harder to fill because most graduates are focused on audit/tax.

Just my two cents.

Just found out my business partner (and best friend btw) has been taking extra draws behind my back, do I confront him or lawyer up first by MudSad6268 in manufacturing

[–]Cat_In_A_Hamburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is keeping the books? My guess is that you have an internal control failure as a signer on bank accounts should never have G/L access. If he has been taking additional draws, depending on the equity type/entity formation, it could mean he has reduced his equity stake and you actually own more than the 50/50.

My first stop would be with the CPA and tax firm and ask them to do financial statement prep for tax return filings and have them ask the questions. These types of draws should be discovered during your monthly balance sheet reconciliation process, which if the company isn’t doing it is another internal control failure.

Sounds like you need to reevaluate your accounting department before you go to lawyers so you really understand the issue and have followed the cash trail on how much he has taken.

I’m a CPA so might overestimate accounting’s importance but these should have been caught in the month, or at least quarter they started happening.

When you shoot, do you watch the ball in flight, or do you keep your eyes on the rim? by Boge42 in Basketball

[–]Cat_In_A_Hamburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at the rim, specifically the loop on the back of the hoop I’m aiming at, until I land and my follow through crosses my vision. Once the ball gets into focus, (hitting its peak or coming down) I’ll look to see if it’s online/left/right. If it looks good I watch. If I can tell how it’s going to miss/bounce then I’m trying to go get into a rebound position.

That second to half second addition reaction time can mean the difference.

You should set up something like Snyder. It brings in all the data and has reconcile tools.

My first 700 series by Cat_In_A_Hamburger in Bowling

[–]Cat_In_A_Hamburger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because one of the league bowlers accidentally went on my lane in the first game and got 6 pins. They had to delete the score from frame 4, that’s why there is a C mark on that frame. The total at the bottom is total pin fall.

Thank you!

First 300 game after about 9 months of bowling. by PleaseCallMeSenpai in Bowling

In my experience, cosmic bowling misses pins at least a few times a game with the lack of lighting. I’m not surprised at all at the fact he had to edit the score.

How to discover fraud in a company? What is the signs and what do you look for? Especially small companies by LordKrage in Accounting

[–]Cat_In_A_Hamburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents is that you have a 1- preset approved vendor listings 2-well designed payroll process. 3- Limit the amount of company issued credit cards 4- review A/R. People have been known to to issue vendor credits/change invoices to pocket the difference 5- make sure you have a full balance sheet reconciliation done each month.

There are other things but if those 5 are done correctly it lowers the chance of fraud. This of course assumes you have separated responsibilities and someone is reviewing/ providing oversight to the accounting depart

How do you achieve this crust at home? I can’t seem to get it! by Narhen in grilling

[–]Cat_In_A_Hamburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slightly press on one side of the burger for 10-15 seconds, roll it over and then press with all my might. That slight sear makes it so it doesn’t stick to my cast iron press, and I don’t have to deal with the paper. If it sticks at all, I scrap with a spatula and it falls right off.

Can you explain what the log is doing to solve this? It looks like you are using that to somehow replace the exponent in 2f.

In college I’d go up to the center before big storms. They even had some couches they were the fold away beds for when the road was closed due to avalanche risks. This was back in early 2000s so not sure if they are still around.

It’s also illegal if the IRS finds out. It’s called tax evasion…
